Does anyone use Plenti?

I shop at Rite Aid every so often when they have a great sale and they are now using Plenti points.  It is a lot more convenient than their old money off system and it ties with other retailers/companies to get even more points.  We have Nationwide Insurance and connected it and we get about an extra $1 in Plenti points a month for continuing to pay a bill we already had.  AT&T is on there too but H moved to go phone and that doesn't qualify.

Does anyone else use it?  Any tips on how to maximize benefits?

Re: Does anyone use Plenti?

  • Following...I shop at Rite Aid and am frankly confused about how this works. I know I need to activate something and I haven't yet.
  • I looked into it, but being in IT it bothers me on some level.  You never get something for nothing and in this case it's just one more company data mining your purchases.  To me it wasn't worth it...

  • I miss Rite Aid's old rebate system - this new Plenti business was more than I felt like figuring out. If anyone has tips I'm open though! I mainly stick to Target because I can stack a coupon on a Cartwheel and then get 5% off with my Redcard lol
  • I got annoyed with it from the get-go.  I made a good sized purchase at Rite Aid with a number of items that had Plenti points attached.  I asked the clerk who rang up my order, if I signed up with a Plenti account, would I get the points for that purchase.

He told me I would, but NOPE!!!  Within a few days, I registered my card.

Still no points.  But now I get at least one of their crap e-mails every day.  Nothing but "lose-lose" so far for me.

The other thing that cracks me up is Exxon is also part of the "Plenti" family.  There is advertising all over the station I go to.  But I've yet to figure out that the heck you get for using your Plenti card at Exxon.  No details about that anywhere.

Well I guess no one else is clued in on Plenti either!

It was more complicated to set up than I thought it would be but overall redeeming the points at Rite Aid on this system works better for me than it did on the previous system where I could lose the paper coupon, the coupon expired quickly and I had to use the exact amount of the coupon.  Now I think as long as you redeem $2 or more you can do any amount you want and I'm not sure what the expiration is but I don't use them often and they are still there and growing with the Nationwide deposits.

@short+sassy I have no idea about Exxon.  I never go there but when traveling it might happen so it would be good to know.

@Xstatic3333 if I recall I got my card at the store and then registered it online.  That's all it took to hook it up for Rite Aid.  Typing it up, it sounds easy but I remember thinking the process was harder than it needed to be.  H hooked it up to Nationwide and it took a couple of tries, I really have no idea how he did it.  I think some of the store employees may need to be a bit better informed of how the program works to make it less confusing for shoppers.

Overall, I'm not that impressed with it but if I can at least get some things free with little hassle now that I am set up I'll keep using it.

@lillibetteV I agree I usually get a better value at Target but since Rite Aid is a pleasant walk for me I still go there for the occasional deal.  For example they let you stack their circular coupons with other coupons and that led to getting bodywash for $0.25 so it was worth it that time but Target will be better 9 out of 10 times.

@jtmh2012 yes, I agree it is not something for nothing but I figure my data is already out there anyway, just add another card on :)

I wonder what happens if you put the Plenti card in first at Exxon and then your payment card.

Yeah, don't get me wrong.  I mean I carry a Starbucks card, grocery store cards, and a few others.  And I know they're mining me there as well.
