Re: TTC/3T Check-in

  • Where are you at in your TTC journey? Cycle #6, CD3
Any testing coming up? Cycle-wise, I'll probably start OPKs around CD10...just in case the supplements I've started taking help. See below for a fuller update.
Anything good or bad happening? (TTC wise or just in life..)
I had my CD3 test today (thank goodness!). Aside from the weirdness of having that done during AF, it was ok. Apparently, my FSH and prolactin were good, and my other numbers were normal last time. They were able to find my ovaries. My right one have 15 (!) spots (my word, not theirs) on it, which they said is PCOS territory. My left one had 9 spots. However, they also tested my thyroid function. It was elevated and I have to go have more detailed blood work done. So let's take note: The RE has now found that I probably have PCOS, I have an issue with my liver, I have no immunity to rubella, and I have an issue with my thyroid. I'm a little mad at the whole medical system that it's taken a fertility specialist to figure out what's wrong with me. I've struggled so hard with my weight and fatigue and AF and other issues my whole life and all my issues were just brushed aside. I was always told "just lose weight". 8-| The good news is that if my thyroid levels are out of whack in the next go round of blood work, the RE said they would start treatment immediately. Plus, if PCOS is the final diagnosis, I can start treatment for that as well. Now I just have to get down to their maximum BMI before the HSG and any fertility meds...which has been such a struggle.
Anyway, I've started taking Inositol and OvaBoost to try and help out. I will say that AF came quicker than anticipated and that I PMS'd like whoa last week (not normal before). I also feel like I look like a teenager again from the hormones. A good thing, I think, is that my temp hasn't been jumping around. It was all over the place (high one day, low the next), and so far it's seemed pretty level.

Non-TTC related: I had a tough afternoon. One of the ladies I know on my area networking board passed away today from cancer. They found it 2 years ago. I've met her a couple of times and didn't really know her IRL, but I interacted with her daily on our board. She was such a shining light. I feel...a little empty from her loss. And I feel like my grief is shallow because I didn't really know her. But I miss her voice and advice...I could totally use it after all that's been happening lately. So, if you can, think of her family (she leaves behind a husband and 2 young sons) as they move on without this amazing woman.

QOTW: If someone had 24 hours in your home state (or region), what must they do/see? Ok...24 hours doesn't get you a lot in the DC area, so it would have to be a drive-by of all the monuments in DC, a drive-by of the Capitol and the White House, then head to the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum in VA to see the space shuttle, then see Mount Vernon, the head to Old Town Alexandria to see it and see the Torpedo Factory. And that's not even 1% of what there is to offer in the area. That doesn't even touch all the Smithsonian museums, the National Arboretum, the Botanical Gardens, Georgetown, Arlington, Great Falls Park, etc.

  • I had blood work and an u/s this morning.  The bw results will be back later today, but the u/s basically showed that there is *nothing* happening down there.  Of course, I should have known this based on my history, but I was hoping they'd find that something had changed.  Nope.

I will find out later today, but I think I'll start pills to induce a bleed this week.  Then, birth control and more testing, then start meds.  Still looking at mid-Sept for a transfer.

I am in the PNW.  I'd find a way to see mountains, ocean, wine and waterfalls in the same day.  Totally doable and very beautiful, but it'd be a long day.  :)

    Month 13.
    Any testing coming up?
    Nope
Anything good or bad happening? (TTC wise or just in life..)
H and I realized that we need to do some drastic changes in our relationship.  So we decided last week that we're going to take a little breather from TTC and NTNP instead, and focus on our marriage.  I'm still charting to figure out where I'm at in my cycle since they've been anywhere from 32 days to 70+, and I hate taking a test once a week after 28 days just to know whether or not I'm pregnant.  We also have vacation in a couple of weeks and I wanted to be able to plan accordingly if AF was going to join us.
I'm still taking Metformin and am doing a loose version of the PCOS diet.

Well, 1 more day of a higher temp and FF will give me a coverline and confirm O on CD17.  CD freaking 17!!!  That's pretty much unheard of for my body.  Just last month the OB said he really wanted to do a monitored cycle to see what's going on because he believes that my late ovulation isn't giving a strong egg and maybe that's why we keep having CP's or nothing.   So if my temp stays up, our timing was very good.

H told me this morning "duh, just relax and it will happen.  Isn't that what the best advice is for someone struggling? So you know, that's all we needed was to just relax and your body miraculously ovulated in a timely manner."  lol.  That man.

QOTW: If someone had 24 hours in your home state (or region), what must they do/see?
Well we live in farm country.  So eat fresh sweet corn from the field, ride in a tractor, get a pie from the Amish bakery, go tubing down the river, lay out on a trampoline at night and look at the stars, drive down a back road, have a bonfire, and get tons of mosquito bites.

@lfk2013 I'm sorry for your loss :( to me, it sounds like you did know her - feeling grief and sadness over the loss of someone you interacted with every day doesn't seem shallow to me

I'm also sorry that it's taken so long for doctors to actually listen to you and take action, but I'm glad they're finally getting you on the right path!
