Ugh, just have to rant here about the volatility of airfare. Wed I checked flights for a short vacation H and I will take to Chicago next month. H had to make sure he could get off of work before we booked so I ended up buying tickets on Thursday, the last day of the Southwest "sale." The one flight went up $21 overnight! We ended up paying $42 more when we booked. I just checked it again today (the sale is off now) and the price is back down.
I guess I'll have to rebook when I have time later today and get the $21 credit and hopefully we use it before it expires.
Re: Seriously Southwest?
Ugh, that is sooo annoying. I hate playing the airline game. I need to start looking at flights to Antigua and I am dreading it...1. because I know they will be expensive and 2. I want to get them as cheap as I can, but I don't want to play the waiting/guessing game....
Do you find if you book directly with any airlines that you can get a refund if the price drops at all vs booking through priceline or kayak etc...
I know there are reasons why his airfare was cheaper...he booked at the last minute and we booked in June for the peace of mind; we wanted non-stop flights; and we also didn't want a red-eye. Rationally, I know why we paid more. But irrationally, I'm irritated about it lol!
18k for airfare? Wow....
My biggest airfare rule -- Never fly on a Sunday.
My friend who recently flew out to NOLA from So CA paid $450 r/t for a red eye. It would have been $550 otherwise, if she'd left Friday morning instead of late Thurs. night. She was still going back on Sunday, and that was the other biggie. Normally, you can get those flights all day long for $300-$350 r/t., but the travel days need to be Mon.-Wed. or Sat.
Business class for 3. Economy class is usually about $1200-1500 per perso
The part you'll love......per the website "for only $12k per person more you can upgrade to 1st class"
It's all about perspective
