Weekend plans?

TGIF!  What is going on this weekend?

Do you have/will you have snow this weekend?

Re: Weekend plans?

  • Fri - Going out to lunch at work today which is a rare occurrence so I am looking forward to it.  TGIFridays emailed me a bogo coupon so we will go sometime this weekend, probably tonight.  Start taking down Christmas decorations.  I think I'll skip snowmen and go straight into Valentine's for the next set of decorations.  I like how the red brightens up the house.

Sat - Gym, laundry, clean up the house.  Maybe get motivated to do some purging.  Go see the movie Manchester by the Sea at the local independent theater that is byob and has real butter on the popcorn.  After that our friend is having people over.

Sun - Not much and looking forward to relaxing.  Watch football.  Our playoff game is at home but you couldn't pay me to attend live in the cold weather, I'm much happier watching on TV!

We got about 3" during rush hour last night.  Traffic was awful from what I heard/saw.  I'm glad I went to the gym after work and avoided it.  It should stick around for most of the weekend, maybe get a little more but probably not enough for sledding.  It is pretty and definitely makes it look like winter.
  • Working today.  Tonight, making my second of three Blue Apron meals for an upcoming blog series I'm working on and watched Incorporated.  We've become hooked on the SciFi channel lately...

No plans the rest of the weekend except the gym and a major, much needed Costco run.  Their coupons suck in December so I waited it out until they had them again after New Years.

It snowed Wednesday night and Thursday morning here.  Not sure how much but no more than three inches.  It's not supposed to snow anymore but Saturday and Sunday have a high of 35, so it'll stick around over the weekend.  Next week it's forecasted to be in the mid 40s to low 50s and will melt then - which is good because I still have one last round of leaves to pick up in my back yard!

  • TGIF! Even though it was technically a short week for me with the holiday it still feels like it dragged....

Friday: leaving work early for my nuchal translucency ultrasound. I'm terrified they'll find something, but psyched to see Baby V, so I'm pretty much a mess of confused emotions.

Saturday: we were going to hang out with FIL and play Risk Legacy but it looks like DH is getting called in to work the snow storm. Later that night we're taking his childhood nanny (who he and his brother are still very close with) out to dinner to celebrate that she was finally declared cancer free this week! I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen my husband cry tears of joy and getting that call from her the other night was one of them.

Sunday: no set plans which means we should do some house stuff and give the dog a bath since he's overdue. I'm trying to cut back on buying breakfast and lunch at work so I'll also probably grocery shop and prep food for the week as well.
  • We're predicted to get anywhere up to 8 inches starting tonight.  Should stick around until at least Tuesday from what I can tell of the forecast.  Don't really have any plans for the weekend right now aside from shovelling snow.

  • Snow in Alabama starting this afternoon and should go overnight.  We are projected to get three inches, which is crazy for this part of the country.  I'm at work, but I plan to leave around lunch.

Friday - Pizza & movie night/enjoy being "snowed in" lol

Saturday - Snow should melt by mid-afternoon, so we will clean in the morning and run errands in the afternoon.

Sunday - H finished painting the basement bathroom last week (it looks awesome), so it's time to reinstall the toilet and new vanity.  I also need to get the license plate on my new car and finish making my "go kit" for the car.

Our new computer arrived two days ago, so I have been working on getting that set up and downloading my photo archive from snapfish (one. picture. at. a. time.  Seriously.).  This was one of my projects for 2017, so this is a great weekend to work on it while it's cold and snowy.

Next week it will be in the 60's.

  • We got a couple inches yesterday with a snow day. Currently its zero degrees.

Tonight - Double dinner date with a friend

Saturday and Sunday - FIL and his wife will be in town for late xmas so we will spend time with them and do gifts

Saturday night I have a wedding I need to play

that is what I want - 8 inches!  That would be awesome.  I love snow and winter weather.  I'm hoping we get a good snow storm this year.  Last year sucked with zero snow days.
  • Friday - Working from home. I went on ahead and did my grocery shopping because my original plan for the weekend had been to cook a ton of freezer meals on Saturday. Because of the predicted winter storm our grocery store was an absolute madhouse! Ugh. Today I'm roasting two whole chickens as early freezer meal prep and then I'm making ham and bean soup with leftover ham from New Years. It's supposed to start raining/icing/snowing tonight and continue through the very early morning on Saturday. Nobody has any clue what's going to actually happen though.

Saturday - A friend of mine sent me this website, so I'm attempting 20 freezer meals in 4 hours! It'll probably take me more like 8 but that's ok. I'm giving this a shot to help us with meal planning, saving money on the grocery bill, and eating healthier. If there's snow on the ground then I'll definitely have at least one hot chocolate break and go play with the dog outside.

Sunday - No plans. If we get the snow and ice they are predicting then that probably means we'll still be stuck at home. We might go over to our neighbors to play some games.
  • Looks like y'all are getting the weather we had Wednesday night and yesterday :)  Got about 8 inches, and today it's bitterly cold (like -8 when I left for work).  It's weeks like this that I'm really loving my new car I got in July (Ford Explorer), it's a beast in the snow, even on unplowed roads.  Our roads in our neighborhood and surrounding it are low priority on the plow list so they often don't get done til a day or so after the main roads are done.

Friday - Work today, then have to go home to drop off my car for H, he's going downtown to watch a DU hockey game.  I'll be taking his truck to go to Target to buy a baby shower gift, and to Costco to pick up TP, paper towels, and dishwasher tabs, they're all on sale this month.

Saturday - Morning will just be some laundry and puttering around the house.  Afternoon heading to a baby shower, and then maybe grocery shopping on my way home depending on how much time I have.  Staying home most likely on Saturday night, H is headed to another DU game (he has a friend who often has an extra ticket, so it's free aside from parking and beer at the game).

Sunday - No plans, and looking forward to it.

We got 2 or 3 snow days last year.  One time last year we got a couple feet.  And then it melts a few days later.

That's what I hate about my area.  We don't normally get a lot of snow.  When we do, it's gone in like a day or so.  Nobody really gets snowed in here except they just don't know how to drive in it.  But the media gets all "OMG, RECORD SNOW!!!!" and people hit the stores.  Never fails that I need a tank of gas or need to make a normal grocery run.  But the hordes are there filling up all their cars and buying enough food to last a month.

Hah! We don't either....maybe one or two events in a season, but the problem is the ice. If we get enough of it, even just a quarter inch, it'll knock down tons of trees, block roads, take out electricity, etc. for days. And then our most recent events from 2014 and 2015 are still fresh in people's minds when it started icing and snowing in the middle of a work day and people got stranded on the highways, kids were stuck in schools over night, it was pretty rough.

We've not had it that bad out this way.  Usually if we get snow it's overnight.  So unless you're a night worker, you get snowed in at home.  One year the ice was bad in the neighborhood, but only because people insisted on driving over the snow and compacting it down before the snow plows could get to us.

  • Tonight- Working late and then class at the gym.

Tomorrow- Lunch or dinner with my cousin.

Sunday- Morning class at the gym, brunch with another cousin, grocery shopping and meal prep for the week. H starts Staff and Command school on Monday, so we're going to have to be diligent in our meal planning. The two weeks on/ two weeks off structure is going to kill the flexibility he has now during the week for meal prep. We're also going to have to start spending more money on doggie daycare with this class starting. Good thing I haven't worked on our budget yet.

  • Late to the party.  Stopped for lunch on my way home to get hot Pho.  It was cold and raining and such a pleasure to have something yummy and warm.

Braved the cold to do my p/t pic job on Saturday, then went to Sam's.  It was the usual busy mob.  Went home and stayed there the rest of the weekend.

No snow in my area, but I think there were some flurries just a little bit north.  It hasn't snowed in NOLA in about a decade.
