Health Insurance Questions

Re: Health Insurance Questions

  • @Xstatic3333 thank you! I think we're probably going to stick with the one we're on just to not mess with anything while I'm pregnant and about to use the plan a whole lot more. It actually IS really good coverage even if you have to explain the policy back to them before they put through pre-approval. And even if they outsource Rx management to CVS Caremark which just sucks. It took a lot of legwork between MGH and myself to get my IVF pre-approval to go through but in the end I didn't pay $16k out of pocket for IVF so.... can't complain. We're on Neighborhood Health Plan.
  • Just fyi, all Target pharmacies are part of CVS now, so you can use them.

My last company used CVS Caremark, but there are no CVS stores anywhere in the state of Colorado.  So we were forced to use mail order if we had a recurring prescription.  The Target thing just happened not too long ago.
  • In Boston there is a CVS on every corner, but I don't have to use CVS for regular prescriptions. However they make you use their mail order service for specialty medications even though when you call and ask they will tell you (1) that you can use any pharmacy then (2) no actually the previous customer service rep was wrong you must use one of these four specific specialty pharmacies until (3) those are all closed on a weekend and you have a time sensitive medication need and then (4) well our computers are down so tough luck on getting any answers for several hours to finally (5) no actually everyone has lied to you until this point and you must use our mail order service for a medicine you need to take 12 hours from now. Then proceed to work your way up the chain of supervisors until one FINALLY puts through an override so that you can use the pharmacy the Rx was originally called into by your doctor (which you had already used without any issues a few months prior) to get the medication on time. Meanwhile the prescription was originally called in late because the insurer incorrectly denied my pre-approval request and we had to fight to get that overturned (they even admitted it should never have been denied).  So yea....CVS can go screw as far as I'm concerned. My husband and I won't even shop at their retail locations for ANYTHING anymore.
