The other morning our BBT thermometer bit the dust. Between wedding craziness/travel/forgetting we've really only gotten one good month of temps, but all signs point to "average" functioning and ovulation. We plan to start ttc in a couple months (with an RE), so should i bother ordering a new one or just invest in some OPKs?
Re: TTC Advice
I vote OPKs, unless you are really interested in temping. I'm someone with an irregular cycle and when I had a preliminary chat with a midwife last year about ttc, she said "We'll just get you some OPKs and you'll be fine." When you're doing insems at the docs office - you don't need more notice than the OPK gives you.
But if you and A want that extra tracking for peace of mind (to have another indicator of when you may need to insem), then go for it.
I'm so excited for you both to be starting so soon!

I temped for a couple of months but the midwife told me not to bother. So I would say that you should get some oks and you should be all set.
Just in case the "ordering" part of it is playing into your decision... you can get a BBT thermometer at pretty much any Target, CVS, etc. for a couple of bucks. I'd probably get another one if I were in your shoes, but I'm an information junkie and would want to temp even if working with a RE.
Also, I'd think it would be worth it to temp for a few months before starting ttc, just so you have a sense of whether the average-looking cycles are hiding something that could be problematic (e.g. a short LP) or not. But see above re: my info junkie tendencies.

Speaking from months of experience, just do the OPK's. Get regular and digital. Use the PIAC method and if the regular looks + use a digital to confirm. Keep track of everything else though. It will really help give you a better idea of what is going on with A's body.
Since you will be seeing an RE you likely won't have to do too much tracking. The U/S will do most of it for you!
