Re: What are you doing for NYE?
YIKES! That's why we aren't going out. Well the prices in addition to the fact that K doesn't get home from California until 10pm that night (if her flight is on time). We'll stay in and perhaps open a bottle of champagne.
Our New Year's Day tradition however is to stay in our pjs, open champagne, and watch the entire season of The L Word. We don't watch it during the year, instead my brother buys me the set for Christmas and then we have our own marathon. I can't wait!
We were either going to go to Annapolis for their version of First Night - they are having a kids concert at 5 and family fireworks at 7:30 - but it is supposed to be cold and we don't think that it is a good idea to have the kids out since they've been/are sick. The other option was our gym was having an event from 7-9 with a moonbounce, open family swim, games, arts/crafts, etc - but Gray will have to be fever free for 24 hours and this morning he was 100.7 (better than the 104 last night.) So, I don't know. Either way, we'll be home at midnight - and most likely asleep since L is now sick.
We are supposed to go to a wedding on New Years Day - but that is going to depend on how Grayson is feeling and if L is feeling better.
we haven't decided yet. there's a big annual party that we usually go to and her sister is having a party, but honestly we're seriously considering staying home. we'd love to see her sister, but she's having the party at a house that they are literally getting the keys for that afternoon (they're moving in january) in the campus area with no offstreet parking, and we really don't want to go. there will be no furniture there aside from a couple of folding tables and chairs. the only reason we're really considering the other party is that some friends of ours who moved out of state may be there--but we're not even sure about that. neither of us will be able to drink unless we stay home. she's in the tww as of yesterday so she can't, and i wouldn't be able to since she can't drive and i really, really don't want to stay at someone's house. been there done that.
there's a couple we're close with who are also really not wanting to go do the party thing. we had talked about them coming over and playing games and stuff with just the four of us. that sounds a lot more fun to me this year...does that mean i'm getting old?
we're going to a pajama party! its at our neighboor/friend's house and i'm especially excited b/c i got the most obnoxious pjs i could find at target - they even light up
Andrea's excited because she can just plop into bed when we get home, lol.
we're not into the going out/partying NYE so we've been sticking with house parties for the past couple years - its always lots of fun.

Well Sandy and I will be attending a wedding then we just decided to go to my best friend's mom's party. It's close to home or if we get drunky we can crash there. Plus seeing the new year come in with the love of my life and my best friend who is more like a sister to me seems to be the obvious best choice of all!
I hope no matter where you all spend your new year's eve, you a safe and happy! Get ready to pucker up for those big smooches at midnight!!!
Elise - your pajama party sounds great!
We are also staying in. It's just so expensive to go out and everywhere will be crowded - we prefer the couch
sahm ~ toddler breastfeeder ~ cloth diaperer ~ baby wearer
We usually stay in. It's safer, less expensive etc. We may go for an early dinner and then just have snacks and movies etc. at home.
I am just so happy that 2008 is coming to an end, I don't care what we do. As long as the calendar starts fresh, I will be happy.
Jen is still in Breckenridge with her family. She goes there every year with her dad and sisters after spending Christmas with my family, since her dad owns a place there and her company has the week between Christmas and New Year's off (lucky!). I didn't want to be out by myself trying to catch a cab or take the train home after midnight (and we don't have a car), so I was planning to just come home from work and hang out on Ye Olde Couch with the dogs. However, one of my friends took pity on me and invited me out to dinner with her and her fab new beau, and they're driving me home afterward so I won't have to worry about getting home. Nice people
Yay for friends.?
