s/o things Alice should have seen, in Twilight (spoiler)
(Sorry if this has been discussed - I've only been following this board for a couple of weeks.)
In Twilight, at the airport, Bella escapes Jasper and Alice by going out a different door in the bathroom. I know Alice had seen that Bella might escape, but it seems like she should have seen the details of how as well, enough to prevent it. Alice was definitely attuned to Bella, and Bella definitely had this planned out.

That was def one that bothered me. For some reason, I think I saw an explanation somewheres.
Hmmm ...?
i thought of that too....maybe that is why she took jasper with her so that he would calm B so she wouldnt think of the decision she was about to make
you knwo what i mean?
I think I've got it. Alice was focused further into Bella's future and still saw her with James in the ballet studio. She wasn't focusing on how Bella got there bc, really, Bella choosing to go there didn't make any sense.?
If the future Alice had been seeing didn't change, there wouldn't be any reason for her to notice Bella leaving.
Does that make sense??
This is the conclusion I came to. The only logical one that I can think of.
makes sense to me! aaand bella wasn't sure if she could get away. wasn't her decision about how she'd do it a last minute thing?...so alice may have not caught it right away even if she was paying attention to what was going on right at that moment.
It wasn't a last minute thing. I'm pretty sure she had it planned out way before they went to the airport.
But, the explanation is plausible enough. However, I think it's a sign of a poorly written book that we have to come up with convoluted theories to explain SM's inconsistencies. She should have explained them clearly in the book herself. But that's SM for you - good story, poor writing.
my food blog
oh yes..I forgot that she was thinking about the exit plan for the bathroom...hmm...Idk then but I definitely agree about SM's writing!
definitely
Additionally if you were Alice and saw Bella in the ballet studio wouldn't you be flipping through all her future moments(for lack of a better term), trying to figure out how she ended up there
Yes, I feel like we have to do this a LOT with her.
I read somewhere that Alice didn't see it because she couldn't even imagine that Bella would leave of her own accord... so she must have overlooked it?
Agreed that SM's whole series is contradictory and ridiculous... but I did see this explained like that somewhere along the line...
