I *might* read them too. I know the first book is at the thrift store and I almost bought it, but I'm not totally sold on the series yet, but with the challenges, I think I will get to them.

They are so good!  I didn't become as obsessed with HP as I did with Twilight, but I enjoyed the books so much.  And you will definitely see what all the fuss is about.  Also, you will notice just how different JKR and SM's writing styles and ideas are, which will become just another weapon for you to use while SM bashing.
