Bed and Breakfast

So my parents gave us a gift certificate for Bed & Breakfast . com for Christmas to use before the baby comes...

?

Anyone have suggestions as to where to go? ?We want to stay kind of close by...like Hill Country or something....?

Re: Bed and Breakfast

  • Fredericksburg is always good. I've also heard Wimberley is nice as well.

  • Yeah..those are towns we are interested in..just wondering if anyone has stayed at a specific place they could recommend....????
  • I think we stayed at the Acorn Inn (something along those lines). It was on the main drag, but a little too far for my walking comfort to get to the shopping area. It was easy to drive to get where we wanted to go. The rates for that house were great on a weekend, so that's why we picked it. The people who ran it were nice, and cooked really yummy breakfasts. Be forewarned, our place was tiny that we stayed in. I don't think I could've shaved my legs in the shower, but I think a lot of them are like that since they are remodeled just for B&Bs. A lot of the B&Bs have pics; that's how we ended up picking ours. Good luck and have fun!

  • We went to Fredericksburg and loved it. I won't be much help though because we stayed at a Bed a Brew, you got beer instead of breakfast, and we went to the wineries. The food was great and I enjoyed all the shops.

  • Ditto PP....Boerne, Fredericksburg, and Wimberly would all be great options. I don't have any specific recs because I can't remember the names at the moment, but any of those locations should have some good options!
  • I HIGHLY recommend the Inn Above Onion Creek.  It's in Kyle, about halfway between San Marcos and Austin, and close to Wimberley.  I just checked the bedandbreakfast.com website, and they're on there.

We've been twice and had great experiences both times.  It's not as "frou frou" as a lot of B&Bs, so DH was really comfortable there.  Also, the rates may seem high, but they include dinner and breakfast, and the meals are amazing.  You can bring your own wine, and they'll serve it with your dinner.  I see you're pregnant, but thought I'd throw that in there in case your husband would want to partake.

     Their website is http://www.innaboveonioncreek.com/.
