This has been bugging me so much

If Forks is such a rainy and cold place and vampires sparkle in the sun, than why in God's name is Rosalie driving a flipping convertible?  Seriously, I have to wonder how SM's brain works half the time.

90 books in 2015?

  • i dont think SM thinks through details and i dont think she is a great writer.  how i even like the books i will never know!  i probably wouldnt feel this way if i havent read so many great fanfic alternatives.  oh well.
  • That's a very good point, Booney. Those damn vamps are so impractical with their spending!

  • Maybe bc you can have cloudy, warm, not-rainy days and have the top down? It makes sense to me. If you like to go fast, you also like to feel the wind through your hair when you can, even when it isn't sunny.
  • I had that same thought. Annoying
  • Um, good question.  Reason #4589 why SM is a bad writer?  Yet somehow, we're all totally addicted.

  • It doesn't seem like she drives it too much. It's her guilty pleasure that she can drive on cloudy/non-rainy days with the top down. If she has to drive it and it's rainy, she can just put the top up. She likes to have options! I don't think it makes SM a bad writer to have her drive a convertible.

Ditto. I still say they are impractical spenders! But it's the same as Edward having the Vanquish

*edit - because he never drives it, not because of the sun

  • If I had that kind of money, I'd drive any car I wanted wherever I wanted.

    Ditto, Robin!!

I have to disagree with you, though, jcam. I am a bit of a car enthusiast, and I fell that much more in love with Edward when I learned he had a Vanquish. DH even has a little man-crush on him after I told him that, too.

Keep in mind that we only know a little of their story (bc they really exist, duh). Of course Edward drives that hot car!?

Well of course he drives it, but no more often than Rosalie drives her car. You know?

  • I might be wrong here but didn't Edward take her to prom in the Vanquish. Maybe she was going to have him use that car and changed her mind. I can't remember anymore. I thought I read that on SM's site.

    Yep! C&P from SM.com:

And, the car that got cut in the editing process. This is Edward's "special occasion" car, and the one he used to take Bella to the Prom. The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish:(Edit: although the Vanquish was cut from?Twilight, it makes a special guest appearance in?Breaking Dawn)?

Perhaps it's just bc I have first-hand knowledge of people with multiple cars and ones they rarely drive. My DH has four vehicles, and one that's his baby - but he only drives it a few times a year.

I totally get it, though. Stick out tongue?

  • thanks!

Extended Prom Remix - a must read I think! And the car makes an appearance Big Smile

  • Considering that vampires can't feel cold, I think she could drive it anytime of the year she wanted.  I have driven in the snow with the top down on my old convertible. I also did it while it was snowing!  That was when I lived alone and bought a Christmas tree.  I needed to get it home so I put down the top and threw it in the back seat. LOL.
