Day/Child Care Costs in/around Nashua

We're about 9 weeks pregnant with our first and I'm already thinking about day care for the Fall! I know it might be a little early, but it's never to early to start planning, right? I've done a little google research, but wanted to expand my horizons to the real moms in our area.

So, my question is two-fold for the well-informed NH nesties:

 1. Do you have any recommendations of child care facilities/options? We're not yet partial to center or in-home. Alternatively, are there ones to definitely stay away from?

2. What is the average cost for child care in the Nashua area? I know it varies from type of facility and specific facility, but approximate or a range of costs would be most useful.

TIA!

Cori

Re: Day/Child Care Costs in/around Nashua

  • I live in Baltimore so am no help with recommendations, I just wanted to say congrats on the impending arrival of your first baby!!!

I cant help with the Daycare recs as I stayed home, but i know there are some moms in the Nashua area who can help you out!

  • Congrats, that's exciting you are expecting. I am not really familiar with costs but I have friends who like Tollhouse in Merrimack as well as KinderCare.
  • My daughter goes to Sweet Pea in Merrimack just one day a week.  It is $40 for the day.  I have to supply all of her food and diapers and wipes.  I also bring her own pack n play for her to nap in, which I like.  We have been very pleased so far this year with the care.  The staff is wonderful and takes excellent care of my daughter.

  • Thank you all for your well wishes (of course I remember you CNJ - your new son is beautiful!) and recommendations. This is an exciting time for us, as well as a little overwhelming with everything that is going on.

Thanks again, I'll check out the suggestions. Have a great day!

  • We actually found a at home daycare near my work in MA, but I have a friend who was using a daycare in Nashua.  I forget the name, but it is right by Maplewood Pizza off Exit 5.  She said it was a bit more expensive and was around $1,500 for her child 3 days a week.  I find the bigger centers tend to be more expensive then a at home daycare or a daycare that isn't a chain.  I don't know anything about the others in Nashua though.
  • Congratulations Cori!!!  I am so excited for you and TJ!!  I have been keeping you and your little one in my prayers.   Although I am not much help with your post,  I have emailed a very good friend to see if she had any info she could share.  She had a baby this past May and did TONS of research on both centers and in-home places in Nashua.  I will let you know what I find out.
