If I get a facial, will my skin...

Hi -?

I've always wanted to get a facial but I have this nightmare of my skin looking worse after than before. I hear about people's skin breaking out then looking gorgeous days later. I could do without looking like a pimply 13 year old with wrinkles.

As a newbie, is there anything specific I should look for/have done? The salon uses Murad products.

Thanks for any advice!?

I have had a few facials and never really broke out.  The only time was when they try to pop those really deep black heads and I get those little road rash looking spots where their fingers were....only happened one or two times though.

I get them done as regularly as I can.  That day my skin usually looks kind of blotchy because of the extractions that they do.  Those hurt - but it gets rid of all those clogged pores and blackheads. My skin usually looks better the next day if not later the same day. 

I would let them know your concerns and let them know if you have sensitive skin.

Ditto above...a little red and maybe irritated from the extractions.  Yes, let them know that you have sensitive skin and are concerned.  Enjoy being pampered!

Definitely share your concerns with the esthetician.  I have also found that the extractions hurt less and my face is less red (post-facial) when I schedule my facials about 1 week after my period.  Also, don't schedule your facial the day before any special event just in case you do end up really red or break out.

I've never broke out afterwards either. I sometimes get a little red just from all the extractions and extra touching, but no huge pimples afterwards.
