Shopping Question-Department Stores
I am moving to KC next week and will be living about 5 minutes from the Plaza and do not know my way around at all. I only noticed one department store there, I believe it was called Halls or something like that and it seemed very nice. I was wondering if there are other malls that have other department stores as well. I suppose I am looking for Neimans, Saks, Bloomingdales, Nordstroms or Macys. Are these stores in KC? Thanks.
Re: Shopping Question-Department Stores
I know there is a Macy's and Nordstroms at Oak Park Mall at 95th and Quivira in Overland Park.
Closest Saks and Neiman Marcus is St. Louis. Bloomingdale's is in Illinois.
There is a lot of shopping in the KC Metro, but there really isn't a lot of upscale department stores. Legends in Kansas City Kansas is an outlet type mall. I haven't been to Zona Rosa on the Missouri side, but I heard it was nice.?

There is also a department store that is new to town called Von Maur that is in Overland Park. It's similar to either Nordstroms and Halls.
We also have Dillards here (at Oak Park as well). It's okay. Kind of like Macy's, but I don't personally like it all that well.
We used to have Sak's, but it closed like 5 years ago.
Welcome to KC!
If there is a store you really want to shop at I would probably go to their website and look at their locations. There is also lots of shopping north of the river on the MO side - but I'm not sure it's actually closer to where you are. I did a lot of my shopping in Independence because it had all the stores I wanted to shop at in one mall (instead of several stripmalls).
