Re: Weekend Recap

I just have to brag on the absolutely perfect Jan 1st Sandy and I had. I have always heard this saying that whatever you're doing on the first day of the year, you will be doing all year long. So we stayed in...took naps...."played" alot....took more naps and cooked for each other. It was relaxing and romantic and absolutely the BEST jan 1st I have ever had!!
As for the rest of the weekend, we are working on the house we just moved into...so there was cleaning and moving furniture and things like that. And then yesterday we went to Lowes and did some window shopping for ideas. We plan to remodel our kitchen and found some great ideas. We are going for modern with fun, bold colors and clean lines and very minimalist. It's so great we agree on how we want to re-do everything.
Life is good and we feel like the luckiest girls ever...
Happy New Year to all of you! Good luck on all the upcoming preganancies!! From the sound of all your notes, EVERYONE is trying (and some succeeding already) to have babies this year!

As said in a previous post, not entertaining but I will reply reguardless... E worked all weekend, trying to get in extra hours before heading back to school in a few weeks. We signed our new lease at our new place, and packed a few more boxes which included freecycling a couple more things as well.
I think the most "entertaining" part of the weekend was after we signed our new lease I was worried we hadn't chose the right place, we actually waited a month to sign it. This is the first lease we BOTH signed, and I was a little hesitant as this is new territory for me. So we went and checked out a condo that we drive past daily. We walked in to the office, looked at the ladies sitting there, and were asked to sit down. Now we both know quite a bit of ASL, more than enough to have a discreet conversation, so E informed me in sign that she wasn't comfortable. I agreed. But we stayed to be polite, we had already asked for a tour of a remodeled and unremodeled 1 bedroom as both were significantly cheaper with a shorter lease term. The entire thing seemed better aside from the rude staff who seemed extremely uncomfortable in our presense. She told us to walk infront of her, note we didn't know where we going. Once she got the point when I just stood there like an idiot she led the way. We entered condo number one... to my horror the condo was 100% the same layout as the one we just chose. Then E pointed out in sign ours had full size appliances and this one did not. We assessed the next apartment and agreed in sign that we had chose the right place. We thanked our unpleasant but overall polite guide and headed back to the office to get E's I.D. back. We sat down as asked and the lady grabbed the paperwork, note I had already let her know we were going with the other place we had been looking out. She started highlighting things and then out of no where grabbed a sharpie and crossed out "spouse's name" and informed us E could just put MY info there. I just looked at her in astonishment trying to understand her ignorance. Note we aren't discreet, we don't hide, we don't falunt but we definatley don't hide. I know E had grabbed my hand twice infront of this person. Then I realize she had done it on purpose. As her manager entered E and I both stood up and looked at eachother and the lady shoved the paper in to my hand, the manager said something to us, and I ripped the forms in half and dropped them in the trash next to the door.
We left and I reported them to Better Business Bureau.
So in recap the most exciting thing this weekend was being reminded so bluntly that there are still very rude people that don't embrace diversity in the world.
At least I reassured myself we chose the right place. Ha.
Isn't it a miserable Monday morning?! I fell on the ice to start my day off and there's lots to do.
Anyways....My weekend was pretty uneventful. We went to dinner on Friday night and then basically just did some errands, cleaning and relaxing on Saturday and Sunday! We did however decide on a donor and buy sperm so that was VERY exciting!!!
mmm...PF Changs is awesome. I was so excited last year when one opened near us.
super exciting!! mind if i ask which bank you went with? we're also planning on purchasing soon so i want to explore all my options

My weekend could have been better. K is sick and miserable and therefore grumpy. Saturday I cleaned the house and then went to see Twilight with a friend. When I got home I really wasn't feeling well. Soon enough I was stuck in the bathroom sick with food poisioning (I'm guessing it was the chinese food I had for lunch). So that just plain sucked.
Sunday morning I was feeling better and went to my cake decorating class. Of course I wasn't prepared and didn't get to practice but at least it got me out of the house for a bit. I finished cleaning after class and then K and I crashed on the couch to finish up our L Word marathon.
i overslept this morning. way to start the week off right. c went back to work last night for the first time since the sunday before christmas.
we had a good weekend, though. friday i wasn't feeling great, so we stayed in and spent the evening on the couch. i dozed while she watched a movie, and then we watched a hockey game. nice and relaxing even though i was feeling blah.
saturday we wanted to get some work done on the bathroom, but instead we went to the store to look at some shelving for the closet and then chalked out where things would go on the floor in there. we went out to dinner with some friends that moved out of state, which was great. we miss them a lot and it was good catching up. then we went home...and watched a hockey game.
yesterday my sister came over and we finished the first coat of mud on the drywall. she's coming over this afternoon to do the second coat and then we'll be able to sand and move on to the next step. i also cooked dinner yesterday--shock! it actually turned out really well, i'm proud of myself.
Not too exciting of a weekend. Saturday we spent cleaning our house for company coming next weekend. Sunday we went to BRU and bought a glider for the nursery. I got a really good deal cause I had a 15%off coupon which they let me use on top of the 15%off sale price! Love a bargain.
Now just trying to get through the week til next weekend when our friend from Toronto comes down for her quarterly broadway show fest. It is great fun cause she will go see 6-8 shows in 4 days and we tag along when we can.

Well, today I started that what better way to start off the New Year and mine and Julie's new diet. Than to hop the bus, and be kinder to the environment!
Well. . . . . . . . .
Back at work after a nice 4 day weekend. While its sad to see my vacation come to an end it all balances out with the fact that the kids go back to school today!!!! YAY! Not that i don't love having them home but 2 weeks is long enough and now maybe when i get home today there wont be a whole days worth of kid mess to clean up.
We had a nice weekend. New Years Eve was spent with good friends having a game night at our house. New Years Day i went shopping with T's cousin and then one of the kids decided he wanted a one on one date night with us so they other boys went to their dads and Michael enjoyed an evening at home with us making pizza and watching movies. Friday we took Michael to his dads to join the other boys for the rest of the weekend and T and I went for a nice Mexican lunch and then I went bridesmaid dress shopping with my mom for her wedding which is in like 20 days. Friday night I went to a local dive bar with one of my friends and watched my brother's band play. Saturday T and I spent the day in our pjs watching TV and yesterday the kids came home and we spent the day cleaning and reorganizing and doing all the laundry i have been neglecting.
Well, besides the big news our weekend was very relaxing. I was lucky to have Friday off and I used it to engage in the ultimate lazy behavior and watch the whole Sixth Season of Scrubs (one of my Christmas presents). It was great. :-)
Saturday we took a trip to the fabric store so that I could pick out the fabric my mom's going to make our guest bedroom/nursery curtains.
Yesterday I went walking with my friend Ro who is 36 weeks pregnant. It was fun to tell her my news and talk about "what's in store." Then Trav & I watched my Eagles win their wild card game! :-)
Overall it was a great weekend!

We had that dreary, icy mess here too! We live on a hill, and I fell walking up the hill to my car at 6:15am in the dark. Then it took 15minutes to defrost/scrape enough ice off my car so I could see enough to drive. Then I slid and almost crashed onto sidewalks TWICE in the first 10 minutes of my drive, even though I was going super slow. NOT the first morning back to work I had hoped for.
But the nanny babies were like little angels today, so the day did turn up :-)
This weekend was pretty uneventful, but we did see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which I highly recommend!
