Good/fun bars in Nashville?

We're coming down from Baltimore for the game this weekend.  We'll have Friday and Saturday nights to hang out downtown, listen to some music and just have fun.  Thanks!
The day I left was just my beginning.

Re: Good/fun bars in Nashville?

  • What sort of places do you like to go to? Dance clubs? Live music? Trendy spots???
  • Are you staying downtown?  That will be fun and easy access to lots of bars and live music.  The honky tonks on Broadway are all fun.  Tootsie's is one of the more famous with live music on two stages (front and back of the bar).  The Stage is usually a fun crowd, lots of younger people 20's-30's, but very crowded.  Legend's is a fun place, usually less crowded.  Robert's usually has older, traditional country music.  Basically there is something for everyone and they are all right next to each other so easy to go bar to bar.  We also like Broadway Brewhouse for a lower key place, pretty good food, lots of beers.  It is on the opposite side of the street.  Lots of my friends love Big Bang.  I haven't been but all of my friends in their late 20's or early 30's love to go there when they are downtown.  Rippy's can be fun too, more so in the summer when the deck is open.  They have live music too and pretty good barbecue.  Jack's barbecue is good as well, food, not bar scene.  There are also lots of bars on 2nd Avenue but haven't been to them in ages.  I did used to really like Piranha's though.  Laid back atmosphere, not as touristy and good Pittsburg style sandwiches with the fries and slaw on top.  Good wings too and beer specials.  Hope you have a fun visit!

  • No dance clubs, nothing real trendy.  We just want to hang out, drink a few beers, and listen to some music.

  • Oh, and thanks tnmaybride!

  • I have always liked The Beer Sellar & Buffalo Billiards. Both on 2nd Avenue. The Beer Sellar is downstairs below the Hooters. They have about 100 beers...a couple of pool tables. Good hang out place.
  • I really like Riverfront Tavern - it's at 1st and Church Street. ?It's perfect for hanging out with friends - fun atmosphere but not too loud so you can have a conversation. ?

?Ditto the recommendations for Broadway Brewhouse, Beer Sellar, and Buffalo Billiards - all great places as well!

  • I'm going to plug my neighborhood bar 12 South Taproom on 12 Ave S. They have live music almost every night and a GREAT beer selection. The kind of music varies, but everyone I've heard there has been talented. It's a really laidback place and they have good food too.

  • Yeah B'more! I went to Towson!

Ditto the PP's on Beer Sellar.  We usually start or end our night here. I know I'm in the minority, but we love the touristy Honky Tonks like Tootsie's etc.

I'm with you. Some of the best nights I've had have been at The Stage and BR549!

  • You can't come down and NOT spend at least a few hours in one of the honky tonks. I personally like Tootsies and the Stage best. The Stage always has an interesting mix of Vandy students, working professional types, and cowboy hat/boot wearing crowd.

The other bars mentioned are also fun, but likely similar to what you can find in Baltimore. If you're looking for something more "unique" to Nashville, you have to hit up at least one country honky tonk! :)

  • Oh gosh....I always hated The Stage unless I could get a spot upstairs! It is such a meat-market there! I can't go in there without some guys hitting on me. I guess they don't get a hint with my ring!?

There is a fun karaokie bar in Printer's Alley called Miss Kelly's! Always lots of fun there! And you can go to Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar to hear some good jazz & blues.?

  • The flying saucer is pretty awesome if you are looking for a bunch of different brews and a cool atmosphere. Printers Alley is good on Friday Night there is a guy named Danny Archer that plays at bourbon street. He is pretty funny.
