The joys of car buying....Recs Needed!
So we are researching, and hoping to purchase by Presidents Day. We are looking to trade in Scott's car. I drive a jeep and really thought we wanted another one. But while thinking about it, we really don't need a second suv and that is excessive. The last car we bought was my jeep, and we were obviously in the market for an SUV. Now that we want a car, neither of us have any idea what we want. We know we want a 4-door sedan, but then what?? There are 2349823094 options!
Any recs? What do you drive? Do you like it? TIA!
Re: The joys of car buying....Recs Needed!
My dad has a Hyundai Azera and LOOOOVES it. They don't make it anymore - but I would highly recommend buying used anyway. The Azera is their luxury package - it has everything - heated seats, GPS, moon roof, that back-up cam. Plenty of room.
Look into it!
Here's one from vehix.comWe just bought a 2009 Corolla from Rockingham Toyota and I couldnt be more thrilled with it. So far its been good in the snow, as good as a car can be... You cant beat the gas mileage, with the prices hovering around$1.55/ gallon I can filled it up around $20!
We have a 2003 Ford F250, so that is our towing car. The Corolla is great to put miles on.
Cayla, I know we already chatted, but the other thing I wanted to mention is that buying a foreign vehicle (Toyota, Honda) will GREATLY help your resale/trade in value when it comes time. If you buy American, you will depreciate faster than you can spit. Also...SUV's are another one that is not retaining their resale value because everyone is downsizing. It's kind of like the housing market...no one's house is worth the same anymore.
Keep that in mind too... and did you email him yet?
Right now, we have a new GMC Acadia (our SUV) & a 2003 BMW station wagon with about 90k miles. I know you are interested in a 4-door sedan, but we LOVE the sport wagon. It's like a sedan (small, manuverable, easy to drive), but with a little extra room.
When we have to eventually replace the BMW, we plan on getting another sport wagon. We have a dog, so we like that we can still seat 4 people & put the dog in the way back. I saw that other people have mentioned Audis--we are considering an Audi wagon because I don't think the BMW is very good in the snow. However, I've heard they've improved it since 2003.
Also, my sil has had 3 Infinitis & loves them.
Are there any Auto Shows in the area in the near future? When we knew we would be buying a new car within the year, we went to the Auto Show in NYC. It was a great way to sit in any & every car made. There was no sales pressure, all our questions could be answered, & we found out about cars that we didn't even know existed.
We are Ford people all the way, since DH's dad used to work for them and we get a nice discount.
That being said, all I can think of when I see Dodge Stratus is that SNL skit with Will Ferrell- "I drive...I drive...I drive a Dodge Stratus!!!" ?Anyone else??
