name change paperwork is in!

Well, we finally took the plunge! Sylvia and I both turned in our name change paperwork today. I think it is good that we waited till now to do it. Even though we knew before we got married that we wanted a shared last name-- in theory, at least-- it was difficult to get to a place where we were both emotionally prepared to actually submit the paperwork. The extra time (which mostly came about because of our busy schedules... plus maybe a little foot-dragging from me) was good, and we are both now happy that we did it.

Now the wait for the court to approve our new names begins! I was so nervous when I went to turn the papers in that I forgot to ask how long it takes. (I know it will be at least 3 weeks, because a notice has to be published in a local paper for 2 weeks before the judge can issue the order.)  How long did it take you?
