One thing really did annoy me about Bella (spoilerish)

I've said before that I'm a Bella fan, but one thing really irked me - Why in the world was it OK for Jacob to talk nasty about the "leeches" and "bloodsuckers" and talk about killing the Cullens, but Edward couldn't say the same about the stupid pack?

Is it just bc Edward is so much more mature in the first place that him saying things like that carried more weight? Maybe she took Jacob's words as silly and childish, like he didn't know what he was talking about or didn't really mean it?

That's the only theory I have, but it's still dumb. She should have told Jake to STFU more often.?

Re: One thing really did annoy me about Bella (spoilerish)

  • I know, right!? Jacob can stfu. Noa [&]
  • Maybe its the maturity thing and the Jacob being childish sounds about right too, but I was more thinking back to MS when Edward said that he was bound by the treaty not to speak of the werewolves, but Jacob just thought they were silly legends and that the treaty was a myth or whatever so he talked freely of the vampires b/c he didn't really believe it.

This is just one of many things that makes me think that the screenwriter had both Twilight and MS at her disposal when making the script.

  • I agree. I was thinking that this morning as I was reading NM. Jacob says some really awful stuff about the Cullens and she just kind of ignores it. It's annoying.

Then again, with the other Jacob crap, she doesnt really say anything to him either. Like when he keeps trying to take her hand, gets too boyfriend-y, etc, she just kind of is like "oh well, it's Jacob."

  • Yeah, Bella is quite the tease with Jacob. Hoor. Stick out tongue
  • It really got under my skin when Jacob would call Bella "honey."  And again, she said nothing.  But......

...it was just her ovaries/eggs talking and not actually Bella. Stick out tongue

That's the only explanation that I could think of.  I think she just has higher expectations from Edward and she still sees Jacob as a "boy" and lets him get by using those names.

That was the most annoying thing in the entire series to me!  It just seemed so out of character for him to call her "honey" . . .  blech!

I know!  When he did it during the fire and ice chapter in Eclipse, I had to restrain myself from ripping out that page!  I mean, who does that, especially when, I don't know, her boyfriend is standing RIGHT THERE?!?!

Oh my gosh yes. That drove me NUTS! I get why he was, but it bugged me that Jacob was SO disrespectful of Edward and Bella never put him in his place.

If one of my friends talked like that about my DH I'd cut a biitch

Ditto. Edward deserves a big, sloppy kiss from me for being such a gracious gentleman.?

  • I think Jacob and Bella were both pretty immature, plus i think she liked the attention Jacob gave her.
  • Jacob loved her, she loved Edward.  You don't kick a man while he's down.

You do slap him if he kisses you, though!

    OK, OK. Point taken. Smile?

  • I think she expects Jacob to be an A-hole. She holds Edward to a higher standard.
