My husband and I REALLY love Disney, but this weekend we realized that we're just getting too old.
His 36th birthday was on Sunday and he got the $75 gift card since we already had passes. We struggled to find things to buy because it was all either too cheesy, too cruddy, too much money (come on, $39 for a T-SHIRT??). And our kids have a bazillion toys, so we didn't really want to get more junk for them. We ended up getting 6 mugs at 40% off a piece, a big storybook for the kids and a frame for my desk at work.
Then when we rode a few rides, we were both complaining about how the ride either made us feel ill or jerked us around too much.
Sigh. Getting old is NOT fun.
Re: I guess we're getting old.
We're the same way. We went there with my niece a couple weeks ago and she wanted all that expensive stuff too!
She is 4 and thought it was so funny that I almost got sick on the dang tea cups!
I know how you feel!
It's been years since I've been to Disney... and I'm looking forward to Aidan being old enough to go and enjoy it. Dreading the $$ part... but we've never been one to buy many souveniers anywhere we go, so I don't know what we would do with a gift card (except head to a resort for a few drinks??!!)
LOL I know what you mean. My DH is 38 now, and he never wants to go on any of the rides. We spend most of our time at the parks just walking around, looking at things and (at Epcot) watching the movies and performers--in other words, all the stuff that I thought was impossibly boring when I was about ten years younger. Funny how things change.
Happy Belated to your hubby!
Could you use the gift card for food and beverage?
Thanks! No, the GC can not be used towards food or drinks. It also can NOT be used at any non-Disney owned store, like the Build A Dino, Lego World, etc.
The other bad thing is the GC *has* to be used the day of your birthday. No exceptions. We honestly struggled to find anything that we liked enough to purchase.
Oh bummer! I didn't know that.
Yeah, it's kind of stupid to not include food and drinks with the GC
We rode Expedition Everest and the safari and felt ill after both. Seriously, we used to be able to ride the coasters at Universal numerous times in a row before we felt sick!
I guess I'm the only one that doesn't feel the same....
I can't imagine getting to that point. I'm sure it's likely to happen.
I totally would've used the $75 GC for Disney ornaments. I was just a downtown disney this weekend and they were 50% off. Even the ones in the Christmas store. I didn't think they would be since the store is open all year but they were. We stocked up on those. :-)
Maybe you were just having an off day and not really getting old yet :-)
