When I choose books that I plan to read, I check to see if they are available at my library. If not, I normally put them off for so long! Since I live in a small town, the library just doesn't have everything I want. I just can't buy every book I want to read... even though I could probably find it online or swap with someone.
SO... if the library doesn't have it, it usually gets lost in the shuffle!
Exceptions would be Harry Potter and Twilight... I went out and bought those because I knew they'd be on the hold list forever. lol.

Also, my mom gets her books here: www.bomc2.com
They have books $9.95 plus free shipping. I just ordered the hardcover of a James Patterson book for that price!
I have looked at paperbackswap before. Maybe it's just me being weird, but I am always sketched out by receiving things like that from people! I always think about hygiene. And cigarettes and cats. lol
ETA: not hating on cat people. I'm highly allergic. lol
I am too. I've grown into not liking used books and only buy new ones.

I couldn't tell you the last time I stepped foot in a library (other than my college library). Probably since high school. I told DH, who is also an avid reader, about the 25 in 2009 challenge and I told him I'll start going to the library to check out most of my books. His reply was "I forget about the library". HAHA! This is coming from a man who practically lives in Books-A-Million.
