Speaking of neighbor's dogs....
I was out walking Nigel last night and was accosted by a dog in the neighborhood. This dog came flying out of an open gate and came running towards us, barking and growling. I started to worry about getting bit but the dog ran right past me and starting snapping at Nigel. It was some kind of little 10lb dog acting all tough with my 160lb mastiff. Luckily Nigel is very well behaved and he just looked at this dog, then looked up at me like "are you serious". After the shock of it, it was actually pretty funny.
Re: Speaking of neighbor's dogs....
That dog must suffer from Napolean Complex. Charlie is the same way. When he was only a year and a half old, I had him on a leash while chatting with a neighbor on the sidewalk. The neighbor had his rotweiller with him also leashed. We were conversing and the dogs were just staring at each other behaving. When all of a sudden Charlie lunged at the rotweiller's neck and latched on. The rotweiller just stood there like "Uh, dude, I'll give you til the count of 3 to let go." Just imagine a little weiner dog hanging by the mouth from the neck of a rotweiller and his back paws a foot of the ground.
in hindsight I bet it was funny. I'm giggling just thinking about it...but only because it turned out alright. That little dog is lucky that you're a responsible pet owner with a well trained dog, otherwise he might not be around right now.
I wonder if the owners even know that it got out? Would it be really weird to knock on their door and let them know in a kind neighborly way? Or leav them a note? I dunno...
On a side note, why do little dogs feel the need to stand up to big ol' dogs? When I had an American Bulldog(who was extremely well trained) people always let their little chihuahuas(it was during the Taco Bell craze) bark and growl at her, and they wou ld laaaaaaaaaugh. I never could understand it.
