Wondering if anyone can help....

The economy is awful right now - my husband was laid off right before Thanksgiving due to the economy. He was a Senior Financial Analyst. He spends hours on the computer every day trying to find a new job, but is still looking. I don't know how much longer we're going to last on my teacher salary.

If anyone has any contacts with any companies down here that they could share, it would be greatly appreciated. My husband is a great guy, a very hard worker, and has always received rave reviews at work. He has his MBA and would love to get his CPA someday. He's willing to commute up to an hour each way to work and has even considered taking a job that required him to be away Monday-Friday if it were offered.

Thanks in advance - we really appreciate it!

Re: Wondering if anyone can help....

  • Normally I'd suggest contacting staffing firms, but my husband works for one and I know that they even have very few jobs to fill right now.

Is he active in any alumni or professional groups? I think networking is the only way to find a job in this economy. Most positions are filled without being posted.  It's all about who you know!

  • What is your email address?  I work for a local company that has a few openings in Finance and I can send you the info.  Good luck!
  • I know what you mean. We are in a bind also. My husband was laid off in April of last year and has been struggling each and every day to find a job - any job. He has his BA in English Literature but has been working in the blue-collar field since he graduated from college. He would love to find something in journalism, editing, or anything for that matter. We are desperate right now. Any ideas?
  • It's rough out there. I have been looking since August, and have had only 3 interviews. Just keep at it, something is bound to come up!
  • my email is e.dukart at hotmail dot com

    thank you very much!!!
