Canadian marriage license requirements
So K and I have decided to make our union legal. We want to go to Canada to make a winter vacation of it. We kind of just want to have a civil ceremony with a justice of the peace with dinner and dancing afterwards for our close friends. Just want some advice from anyone who has gotten married in Canada about how it's done and what to expect and what I need. I've been looking it up but I'm still a little clueless. I'm sure this has been posted a million times but just refresh my memory. Thanks ladies!!!
Re: Canadian marriage license requirements
We got married in Victoria, B.C. The laws are different by province like bluedaisy said. We used this site for just about everything we needed legally:?http://www.vs.gov.bc.ca/marriage/howto.html?
Haven't posted here in forever.... but we got married in Toronto and as far as I can remember we just had to have proper ID (I brought pretty much everything just in case) and went to City Hall. Filled out paperwork, raised our hands in oath, and signed on the dotted line. Then at the actual ceremony, our officiant had us sign the registry to make it legal, had it witnessed, and voila.
After we got back to the US, we sent away for an official marriage certificate from the government, I think it was about $35?
