Anyone live in/familiar with Hudson?

Hi, ladies! It has been a while, it seems I pop in and out of the nest...

DH and I will be closing on our new home in Hudson (after nearly a year of househunting and having our dream home slip through our fingers) in mid-Feb.  DH and I were concentrating our search in other towns, so we didn't really research Hudson.  I know, I know...silly that I am asking this now rather than before...but we went to see the house and due to multiple offers, had to put ours in quickly as time was of the essence.

Anyway, I would appreciate any info.  I am looking forward to finally being a homeowner again!

Re: Anyone live in/familiar with Hudson?

  • Well, to be honest, I don't know too much about Hudson. I do have a friend who lives there, grew up there and eventually bought her parents' home. She loves it. I do know Hudson is a great location!

+ By the way- your trash the dress pics are gorgeous!!!

  • I grew up in Hudson and now work at the middle school there. ?It was a great town to grow up in, not too small, not too big. ?It seems to be growing every day, though! Just page me for more specific q's if you'd like.
  • I lived in Hudson for 14 years of my life and my mother and DH's parents still live there. Great town, schools are good, close to a lot of stuff. Do you have any specific questions? What end of town are you moving to? Closer to Wal-Mart or closer to the high school?

    Congrats on the purchase!

  • Thanks, ladies! The home is near the high school, sort of.  It has taken some adjusting, just because I had my heart set on a different house is a different town, but I am getting more and more excited about the house every day!

  • I grew up in Hudson, my parents still live there.  I attended private HS but Alvirne is great. My experience in the public middle school was fine as well. My parents bought their home 25 yrs ago for $80K it has appreciated to just under $400K now - might not go up quite as much in the next few years, but Hudson is still a good investment.

We were at least 15 minutes from the nearest store, it could get VERY quiet in our neighborhood.  Safe to ride around on bikes after dark, good rec center in the summer. We had well water other utilities similar to rest of NH (Comcast and Fair Point). The train could make getting into Nashua a PITA but there's plenty ways around that now - traffic can get backed up by Exit 3 on Route 3 (near WalMart), but I think that's on the other side of you.

    GL!

  • my BIL lives in Hudson & he loves it- not too small, not too big & close to everything!

    good luck!

  • I also grew up in Hudson and loved it! As others have said, not too small not too big...it is growing in certain areas but there are enough old timers around that are keeping the building at bay as much as possible. I grew up on the other side of town (south side) and it was great, but the Alvirne side is also nice!! If you have specific questions let me know!!
  • I live in Hudson.  I moved there a year ago right after my DS was born.  We are loving it.  I am meeting other mothers with small children.  We have family in the area, so we know the area pretty well.  It's close to everything and easily accessible to the highway.  If you have any other questions, just page me.
