Just curious... story below should explain why I am curious, ha. Please excuse any horribly missspelled words or sentences that make no sense... or run on sentences, like this one. :P
So I have a huge 7 foot cabinet and I was moving it with E (we have divided our livingroom in to 3 sections to make the move easier... Donate, Sell, and Keep) across the room to the "Keep" Section and it tipped when I turned my back to move something off the floor.. and fell on me. This was on Wenesday night, late.
So we just called it a night and wen and watched a movie. Well we fell asleep and when we woke up the next morning I checked online for shoulder blade injuries. As far as I could tell they all hurt and feel the same and it's best to wait a couple days because bruises should subside within that time and sprains will get better a bit, breaks obviously worse. I got about an hour of sleep Thursday night and close to 2 on Friday night, then yesterday I woke up barely able to breathe.
E went to a meeting at work and when he came home he looked at my back and said it was swollen and looked off. (THe red is the marker... we were outline my typical blade and the hurt one.... you can see it off on the right side... theres a weird bulge)
So he told me we were going to the ER, no excuses... 3 hours later ... I have a broken shoulder blade, possible broken rib, the onset of pnemonia, a swollen lung... and my lung was going to collapse. I am now taking vicodin, ib prophen 800 mg, a heavy steroid to open the lungs and reduce swelling, and an antibiotic to fight the infection because I am still having problems taking deep breaths.
If anyone has ever done anything like this... what on earth did you do to entertain yourself? I am bored crazy... I cant pack the house, I cant work with my kiddos because they are heavy (im a nanny), I have no appetite so I dont even want to comfort eat ...and Ive already updated the website, wrote in the blog, and am half way through uploading all our pictures from the last year to a new photo hosting site so I can add a link on our site. ><
Im not suppose to strain my arm, I am in a sling 24/7... and it hasnt even been 24 hours and im fed up. I am right handed so I cant draw which is my typical pass time. Oi.
Any advice or entertainment will be appreciated lol.
Re: Anyone ever break their shoulder? Pictures included.
what an awful freak injury.
I don't really know - -movies and books?
On no! I can't imagine how painful.
I have no suggestions, because a week/month/ of doing NOTHING but sitting on my butt watching tv/movies/reading/surfing the internet sounds DIVINE!
Thanks for the well wishes... Im enjoying time with my puppies... who I belive think they have died and gone to heaven.
Im going to start organizing E's paperwork and I have been sorting through our wardrobes without him here o that he doesnt try to keep EVERYTHING I put in the donate or trash pile. And I cant drive so I made him take me out last night just to get out... and we bought ice cream yum the guy at cold stone felt bad for me so he gave me one size larger by "Accident" :P
And we unpacked all the movies (248 should keep me entertained right? lol)
E is being sweet... he did the dishes... probably because he came home and I was grumbling at the sink... try to do dishes one handed with not your stronger hand its humorous and frustrating.
I love tobe doing something constantly I think that's why Im annoyed ha... that and I take care of quadruplet girls and I miss them ...they are 9 months old and heavy so Im not allowed to work for them until Icheck with the specialist this week.
Anyway Ill keep yall posted...
BTW not too much pain, I think I wouldnt have gone in aside from the trouble breathing scared E and he forced me... if it was just broke I probably wouldnt have noticed and chalked the discomfort up to a soft tissue bruise vs a break.
Also Im clumsy beyond belief so no injury is "Freak" for us lol.... last time we moved E broke his wrist and I fell down the stairs lol.... it was all very funny until we realized his arm was truly broken! Oops! He fell out of the uhual truck... he is short, 5'2, and he miss calculated the last step on the truck ...haha I giggled and we finished moving everything before I really saw it was swelling. This is why the next apartment we are living in for 5 years no ifs ands or buts.
Anywho thanks again.
Oooh Ow. I hope you heal up quickly. That does not sound fun.

I do not post on the nest much, however I lurk often and find everyone on SS very open and honest, it is truly a breath of fresh air. Therefore, I hope I am not butting, but want to share as I was in a very similar situation. Although it was not my shoulder, it was my humerus (in case someone is unsure that is your funny bone, the one between your shoulder and elbow)... I was off of work nearly 8 months so I had a lot of free time on my hands. I had therapy three times a week, so that could account for a two hours each afternoon. However, I spent nearly countless hours a day at a local coffee shop, I too could not drive so my husband would take me in the morning and someone (usually my mom) would bring me home around lunch. I met some really interesting people, mostly old men, the one's with wifes that were annoyed with them, that provided entertainment. I also went to afternoon movies, a great $$ saver since I was not making full pay. I also went to the library and read alot. Good Luck and glad to hear you are not in pain.
