Charleston recs?

Re: Charleston recs?

  • I have recs in my bio. Have fun! Big Smile

***disclaimer*** Hymann's can suck during tourist season. You can wait for hours to get in. If you catch them in the off-season, their fish, especially the mahi, which is caught offshore right in SC, is fresh and delicious. :)

  • I looked at the other post and saw all the information about and around Charleston and she covered a lot of great stuff!

From my stand point..  I do not recc. Hymann's. There are definitely PLENTY more seafood rest. in the area that have much better quality. (Hanks is a def. plus).

Shopping here in Charleston there are not too many options in my perspective... there is the downtown area (King St. & Market) with the boutiques, other stores, and the open-air market. But Shopping mall wise... you might as well pass on all of them located around Charleston. Not good options and if they have what you are looking for they are basically the minimum of everything (not a lot of options).

All around, downtown is my favorite area to go and do activities (eat, shop, nightlife, etc.) If you are into trying new things... try the rest. Basil (Thai)... one of my favorites as well as my friends. I go there as much as I possibly can, haha!Big Smile Another neat place to eat with awesome food is Cru Cafe... located within an old historic Charleston house!

  • I also agree that there are much better places than Hyman's- it's so overrated!  For a nice restaurant, Cypress is our favorite.  Other good ones are Sermet's Corner, Kickin' Chicken, 82 Queen, Boulevard Diner (Mt. Pleasant), Locklear's (Mt. Pleasant), Post House (also Mt. Pleasant), and the Pita Pit.  For shopping you definitely want to visit King Street!

Charleston has a Pita Pit?  *drool*

We had one in my college town, it came in my last year there.  We didn't have one anywhere near is in northern VA, and we don't have one in Greenville either.

Everytime we go to Charlotte we go there... I think we're going to Charleston, SC for a little anniversary weekend.  We'll have to stop there for lunch one day!
