(#) Monday check-in

How was everyone's weekend? I give myself a C+... I went to the gym both days but was just okay food-wise. I weighed myself on Friday and lost 2 lbs last week! Hope I didn't blow it with my late night munchies on Fri Wink.

Have my body pump class after work today and will be nice to get a day off from running. Couch to 5K is going okay but I'm still not quite sure how I feel about running in general. Guess it's too soon to tell.

B: Hardboiled egg, V8 juice

L: leftover salmon, brown rice, side salad

S: carrots, grapefruit, celery

D: asparagus, chicken

Re: (#) Monday check-in

  • That's awesome, Brookles!

I did OK food-wise last week, but I know I can do better. I weigh in after work, so we'll see. My weekend was OK. I slept for about 12 hours on Friday night, but I did go swimming Saturday.

For this morning, though, I deserve a prize. I set my alarm for 5 to go swimming, but I actually woke up at 4:59. When I got in the car (after de-icing it, of course...oh, to have a garage!), the thermometer said 8. By the time I got to the Y, it said 6. And today is supposed to be the warm day this week! Nevertheless, I swam 20 laps.

B: haven't eaten yet, but it will be 1/2 c. yogurt with 1/3 c. granola and blueberries; coffee

L: leftover chicken parm & pasta from last night; clementines

    S: clementines & string cheese

D: black bean soup & saltines, maybe some carrots

  • Nice job, ladies!  You did better than I did.

I didn't work out ALL weekend, but was fine eating until Sunday night.  DH and I finished babysitting my nephews (which I had forgotten about until like 2 yesterday) at 8:30 and just got Red Robin take out.  I made horrible choices.  Boo.  But today is another day!

    B: Life cereal

    S: Orange

    L: Amy's Vegetable Pot Pie

    S: Quakes

D: No idea.  Either Boca burgers or tofu fajitas.   Hoping to get int a work out tonight!

  • Nice job, ladies!

I'll get to my WW meeting this afternoon after work, so we'll see how that goes. I do know that I stuck to my points this week and didn't use all my flex points, nor did I eat my activity points, so that should be good. Overall, eating this week was okay. My mom's in the middle of a bad breakup, so H and I have gone over to her house most nights to keep her company and well, that always throws a wrench into my eating because I'm not cooking. I'm pretty tired of chicken breasts and rice at this point (she doesn't cook, so when H and I go over, we order takeout from one of her favorite places. And trust me--it's all fatty, bad-for-you Cuban food. The grilled chicken and white rice is as good as it gets, health-wise).

I've worked out more in the past week than I was doing before the holidays, so I'm happy about that. And just now, got back from an hour-long workout with my trainer, capped by a half hour of walking. I'm beat.

Have you thought about taking over ingredients to cook?

I'm so proud of you all! You guys are doing so much better than I am. Last week I got off to a sluggish start after my break from ww. I am trying to do better. I have also decided that original goal weight is not practical. I let go of the past and determined a new goal weight which is in the range of what ww suggests so in actualality I have to loose the 4.4 lbs I gained over the holidays and I'll be at goal weight.

Tonight my plan is to go home make my turkey meatloaf and while it's in the oven take my walk. Keep your fingers crossed I actually make it. My original plan was to get up and exercise this morning but I woke up more tired than usual.

B: oatmeal, all-natural applesauce and half a grapefruit

    S: pumpkin-banana muffin

L: SO Chicken and Cheese Quesidilla

    S: half a grapefruit

D: turkey meatloaf and smashed cauliflower

    S: chocolate fudgesicle

  • My weekend was OK...it could have been much, much worse, though it didn't go as well as I hoped.

I've been slacking on exercise, but I'm going to go to Target today to get a couple things so I can start doing couch to 5k tomorrow.  I need a couple long sleeve t-shirts with pockets, so I can slip my ipod in there, and different headphones.

    Today to eat, I'm having:

    B- yogurt and granola

    L - leftover turkey chili

    D - butternut squash soup

For snacks...probably a clementine or two, dried apricots, a bit of cheese...we'll see

Yay! Keep me posted on your progress... it'll be nice to have a couch to 5k buddy. I'm on week 2 day 3 (tomorrow) so am not too far ahead of you.

  • I will follow y'all with couch to 5k in the spring! I've done it before, and I liked it. But I hate running intervals on a treadmill. Well, I hate the treadmill generally, but it would be more tolerable if I could run a decent distance on it. Considering the high on Thursday is -1, I don't think this is the week to start running outside.

Yay! Did you do the program all the way through?

I hear ya -- I don't particularly enjoy the treadmill either but it's a necessary evil, because I dislike being cold above all things. Am looking forward to running outside with my dog.

  • I basically did it all the way through. I had measured out a distance that was right at 5K, and it was taking me longer than 30 minutes to do it. I did the whole thing, but I usually had to take about a 2-minute walk break in the middle. I was going to do Race for the Cure, but then I got shin splints. Same with the second time I did it. Seriously, I suck. I have learned that I can go every day until I get to where I'm running 20 minutes straight. Then I have to make sure I have a day of rest in between so my delicate li'l shins don't die.

This time I'm determined to not F it up. Once it warms up, I'm going to break out the bike, too. Maybe one of these days I can work up to doing a triathalon. I'd settle for being fit enough to use my bike for transportation a bit more.

Every time I've tried running, I've ended up with shin splints. This time I'm trying to really be conscious of my form and not to overdo it, so hopefully it won't happen again.

  • We celebrated our anniversary this weekend, so I didn't do fabulous, but I did well not cleaning my plate, and we did walk quite a bit.

We have some more packing tonight and maybe we can get a walk in. Need to get Mr.P a better knee brace.

    B: cheerios

L: still doing well with my PB&Js. Since work is crazy, this is working really well.

D: no idea, the chaos that is my current living situation is killing dinners. I'm going to go by TJ's tonight and get some stuff that I can make quickly.
