Q: In your next movie you play the young Savador Dali who was bi-sexual. Did you have problems playing such a role?
A:It was odd and something new to kiss a guy in this movie. But it was very amusing too (laughs). But I wouldn?t call Dali bisexual. He was rather asexual with all his neurosis concerning sex. He was a very contradictory and conflicting person, with his sexuality as well as his emotions.
Q: How do you deal with the hype surounding you?
A: It?s somehow becoming a daily routine for me. It?s still stressful and exhausting but at the same time really overwhelming. If you stand in the middle of these huge crouds of people, that are screaming your name und you are pulled in ever direction you get the feeling you are losing control about everything. It?s a weird feeling but I am getting used to it.Q: Don?t you feel like a superstar than? Don?t you enjoy that?
A: No, because I see it as my job. My private life isn?t much different than it was before. I still like the same things I?ve always liked. The only thing that has changed is that I can?t go everywhere without getting noticed. I?m in the process of getting used to that.Q: Did you expect this huge amount of success that Twilight has brought?
A: Not at all. This was my first American movie. When we started I thought it was this small budget movie and had no idea how huge it was going to get. Not even while shooting it. Only when the whole hysteria started months after we finished the movie did I start to realize how huge this is.Q: How do you explain this success? Why do people love vampires?
A: I think this is more than just a vampire story. It?s a very personal, intimate and unique story. There aren?t many stories that portray teenage life as something serious. In most stories teenagers are portrayed as very frivolous and not something you need to take serious. Twilight doesn?t do that. It shows teenage life without all the irony and cynism and takes the problems and feelings of the teenagers seriously.Q: You are portraying Edward who?s a very sexy vampire?
A: Yeah. Catherine Hardwicke, the director, helped me partially with that. I had planned my role as this sad, depressed character. Look: this guy is over 100 years old and thinks that there is no reason whatsoever for him to live. He can?t live on his instincts and he can?t actually fit in with the humans he is sorrounded with. That?s why I played my character in a very depressed kind of way. Catherine than told me ?Don?t do that, that doesn?t look very attractive? and she gave me more confidence and helped me to see and play the character from a different point of view.Q: Did you sign for the next three movies already?
A: I?m signed to do two moreQ: As Cedric in Harry Potter and as Edward you often play very tragic characters. What do you think is the reason you get cast for such roles?
A: Maybe people want to see me suffer (laughs). No I have no idea why, but so far every character I have ever played had this tragic flaw in some way. I like that kind of stuff.Q: Are you still in contact with Daniel Radcliffe?
A: Not really. He is constantly working and I haven?t been to England for almost a year. But we?re friends and he?s a really cool guy.Q: In your next movie you play the young Savador Dali who was bi-sexual. Did you have problems playing such a role?

A: I did the Dali movie before I did Twilight. I don?t try to change a certain image or to gain another. I played the part because the script was very interesting. I didn?t think about my image or the future.Q: There was a huge approar when it was announced you would play Edward and many fans were against it! How did you feel and how did you handle that?
A: I kind of expected that to happen. People have certain ideas and expectations. They see Edward as THE perfect man and of course everybody has a different idea of how the perfect man looks like. In the end you can?t please everybody anyway so I didn?t really bother and just did my job the best I could.Q: Why were you of all people chosen? What do you think?
A: Catherine Hardwicke and Kristen Stewart told me that at the audition I was the only one who didn?t try to portray Edward as this strong confident hero. I tried to play him as a desperate, broken character because that?s how I saw him. Maybe that was the reason.Q: For the movie you also recorded two songs which are featured on the soundtrack. Are you planning a career as a rock star?
A: Not any more. I wrote those songs a year ago with a friend of mine. Back than I was considering to give up on acting and work as a musician, but then the Dali film came and then Twilight shortly after and Twilight has become so huge. So I think I?m gonna give up on my childhood dream of being a musician and just continue acting for now.
