personal trainers

Can anyone recommend a personal trainer in the York area?  thanks!

Re: personal trainers

  • I'm a personal trainer but in the Hershey area but one of our part-time trainers lives in York now and she works part time at the LA Fitness.  She actually has a nutrition background (B.S. in Nutrition) and recently she got her American College of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer certification.  Her name is Niki Lazarz.

Regardless when looking for a trainer you should ask the following questions...

    1. Does the trainer have a degree (or advanced degree) in exercise science, kinesiology, exercise physiology, etc?
    2. Look for certification through either NSCA (National Strength & Conditioning Association), ACSM, ACE (American Council on Exercise), or even NASM...those are the organizations that most reputable fitness directors look for when hiring trainers.  These are the ones that are accredited by national certifying bodies which is big in the fitness industry since there are a ton of weekend workshop certifications where you go for 2 days and all of a sudden your a trainer :(

    3. One of the first things they should have you do is fill out a thorough medical history, PAR-Q, etc then they should schedule you for a fitness assessment.

If you have any questions what so ever, don't hestitate to shoot me an email...jprice916@gmail.com

  • I highly recommend Nancy Hart.  I worked with her a few years ago and also took a class she taught this summer. I'm not sure of her certification but I loved working with her.  Let me know if you want her number.

    thanks!
