CIO....ugh...hate it..

So..after 3 weeks of DS not sleeping through the night...he's been waking up 2 or 3 times a night...we have decided to let him cry it out...I have never been a fan of this and would rather not do it but my friend who has a little boy the same age as DS swears by it and her DS sleeps from 6:30p-7:30a and takes a 2 hour nap in the middle of the day...anyway, he's CIO right now as I type this because I just put him down for bed. I usually rock him to sleep but that's been taking 30-45 minutes lately and not the usual 5-10. So I am desperate.

Re: CIO....ugh...hate it..

  • He stopped crying!!! He went to sleep on HIS OWN!!! It only took 15 minutes!!!
  • I bet that really is hard to let him cry...  That's awesome it didn't take long!
  • That's great news! How did the biting problem work out? I've been meaning to ask and keep forgetting.
  • Only 15 min for his first time....that is great!!!

  • i had no idea what cio was until i opened this post... LOL

poor smith... but at least it worked! here's to continued success!

  • Well, that didn't work perfect...he did wake up I think two or three times before we went to bed at 11 but then not again until 5:30 which was when I usually sleep anyway...so...

I really think he's teething...like getting 6 teeth at once...

Lauren...I had no idea what CIO was until I had Smith...and most of the time when I get on the baby boards, I still have to look stuff up...

The biting has gotten much better! Knock on wood...because I say that now but I bet there'll be an incident report at school b/c I did ;o) He's pretty much over the hitting/biting/scratching...he still scratches every now and then but it's not near as bad... thank you for the tips!

  • Wow! congrats- it sounds like it was successful for the most part!

I feel for you- I don't even have babies and I can't imagine how much it must upset you to let him cio =( *hugs*
