PSA: Walmart : (

I just got done watching the film "Walmart: The High Price of Low Cost" and I have to say I have this urge to tell everyone I know and even people I don't, they must see it!

Back story.....?

With the economy going down hill I was?curious?about this film when I saw it on Netflix. ?I think Walmart and Mc Donalds are pretty much the only two company's that can say they had a good year and I wanted to know how and why they could. ?I now see how blind and selfish I have been. ?There is a cost to paying a few cents less, and sadly I think we are all paying it now. ?Check out the film, I would love to hear what you all think! ?I know from now on I will be paying more attention to what I buy, where it is made, and who it is from.

Re: PSA: Walmart : (

  • I too saw that movie and was even more angry at Walmart.

People just shop at Target...99% of the time it is cheaper too.

  • I posted the same message on some of the national board and have gotten a huge debate going on. ?I just wanted to keep the Wisconsin girls in the loop....??What happened last night...?I?just showed the film to my husband when he got home from work last night. ?He is the perfect yin to my yang! ?I am ready to make signs and have already sent out e-blasts and posted here....He is more like, wow that really sucks but everyone of those companys must be doing that at some level. ?He said to me, "Sadie, I worked there in High School and thought it was a great job." ?They payed him $8.00 an hour, he was not married, college was already payed for, not paying rent, didn't have kids, and was on his parents insurance. ?Of course $8.00 an hour is enough to buy beer and a car payment!?We are very?fortunate?to have the things we have, but I will not have them if it means someone else must live a life I never would want to.??With life as busy and?hectic?as it can get it is just easier to not ask questions, to not demand compassion, and to not hold billion dollar companys to the same standards as the small Mom and Pop store. ?If you haven't seen the film I urge you to see it. ?It is not all about China but about how it is affecting Americans. ?I lovingly explained to my husband that every american will be making choices. ?I will choose to support my local busniess as much as possible. ?I will change my spending to expect that I will buy less items but plan on paying more for them. ?In reality, I don't NEED a whole lot of anything but food and some new clothes every once and a while. ?I am not saying Walmart is bad (they could?defiantly?spread the?wealth?a little more), I am saying my expectations for what things should really cost was off. ?And I?definitely?didn't?realize?what getting something for cheap was costing others.?
  • ?i try not to shop there because of what i have heard from my MIL (who works there) and what i saw in the movie.
