Harvey, LA

I have to travel to Harvey for work.  I am staying at the Holiday Inn Express on Manhattan Blvd...is this a safe area?

  • I like to think so ... I live down Manhattan Wink

  • You'd probably *feel* safer staying on the East Bank...

  • Thanks ladies!  I've been to New Orleans several times and have stayed in lots of places that others probably wouldn't. This is my first time to the west bank though and I didn't know what to expect.  I'm from Baltimore so it takes a lot to scare me Wink

  • If it's by Lapalco, it's not safe.  I wouldn't stay there, but hell, I went to Miami for a concert, then after I was there, glad I brought our gun w/ us.  The hotel was a shiithole dive and I was scared to come back after the concert.

Now, this hotel isn't like that, but it's just not a good area, but unless you're trying to buy drugs or flaunt that you may have money, you should be safe.

  • Okay, I have to disagree with most of the pps. The Holiday Inn Express on Manhattan is brand new and next to a new little shopping area with restaurants, near Target. A good number of our extended family (including my 80 year old grandfather) stayed here last year after our wedding reception. It is safe, don't worry.

Thanks!  I saw the pics of that area online, so I was thrown off when people mentioned it being unsafe.

I agree with nolateacher!!!  My mom works for the Detectives Bureau and this area is not infested with crimes.  Now there are places to stay away from on the Westbank but there are also places anywhere you go!!!

  • I agree, that area where Holiday Inn is a pretty decent area.  Enjoy your visit.
