Well, I did it...

On the eve of PCP/TTC Wednesday, while C is working late, I am here to confess that I made my first for-baby purchase.

I have been being really good and holding out and not buying anything at all because it is waaaayyyy too early, but I finally gave in to temptation!  The Charley Harper collection at Old Navy was too dear for me to resist.

The purchase:
http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=38408&pid=622164

It's just a little board book - very easy to put away and store until needed.  It was inexpensive and only available for a limited time!  At least I was good and ordered one book rather than both books and the peg puzzle (which, I admit, I considered).  And Cecilia even approved!

Not to be a bad influence or anything, but you should all probably buy one of these books because they're so cute Smile

Also, Old Navy maternity looks very cute and quite reasonably priced!  Don't worry, I didn't order anything......

Re: Well, I did it...

  • It's Ok... I have a baby tote... it has stuff I don't want sitting out for company to see (pregnancy books and baby toys) or the pets to get to.
We are 6.25 yrs away from TTC again but when we tried last time and the test was "positive" I bought a few small things (onesies, etc) and I couldn't just donate them for some reason when we lost. :(

I'd be buying more but E has made me swear I will not purchase another baby thing (Without his involvement) until we visit the fertility doc in 5 years.

(FYI It doesn't sound that long in our "plan"... in this post 6.25 years sounds like a ridiculous amount of time! Now I want a baby again)

  •  I have a board book, too.  I bought it at our wedding site, the morning of our wedding (gift shop of the art gallery).  We wrote a little inscription in it to baby.  I might have to buy another one, though, b/c that one is SUPER cute.  I don't think there's anything wrong with stocking up on books!  It's just good parenting!
  • I just talked myself into buying it.  I can't help it- I love chimps!! (most of the time that chimps are in kids books they have tails, and I just can't support that).  Thanks for the rec! :)
  • books are the perfect pre-baby purchase (mandy i loooove that you bought one on the mornind of your wedding - so sweet).  I've already got a collection beginning in our hope chest!
  • Thanks an adorable book Brit!  We only have two baby items - both onesies.  One I bought K a few years ago because it was is just so 'us'.  The other we picked up at Target during Halloween because K found it adorable.

Confession:  I have a wish list on Babies R Us. Embarrassed

  • Congratulations on joining the Couldn't Resist club. Beware-- once you make the first purchase, it is so much easier to make the second!  :)

I managed to resist purchasing the book, but I did add it (and the ABC one) to the amazon wish list that I have going for the future kiddo(s). (Their wish list is my official outlet for the baby-crazies... I have tons of books and a few toys on there.)

  • I bought kids books even before L and I were together!

L and I did buy a lamp for the kids room 3 years before we got pregnant - and it sits in the boys room now. I look at it every now and then and remember what a long journey it was to get them (which helps on days they are being crazy!!!)

  • I LOVE Charley Harper! Great buy... I actually have the chunky version of his ABC book on back order through Amazon, and I bought this print:

for the guest bedroom/nursery. The t-shirt they have at old navy actually comes with one of my favorite prints of his (the bird sideways on the tree, leaning down towards the snow). I might have to buy it!

  • S and I have both bought some outfits over the years that were supposed to be for gifts that we loved so much they never made it out of the house.  They live on a shelf in the second bedroom.  I have always bought children's books so I have a collection that is on the bottom shelf of the book shelf in the living room all ready for a baby to pull off.  I must say we made it in and out of babies r us this past weekend only buying  a bib (for my dad's b-day when we tell them we are preggers) and some belly butter.  I was quite proud of our restraint.

  • Very cute book!

On a recent vacation we were at Universal Islands of Adventure and they have a whole Dr. Suess themed section of the park. We went nuts and bought stuffed animals and a onsie that says "Thing 1" from cat and the hat! It's hard not to buy cute little things when you see them!

  • I knew I'd be in good company Wink
