Marley and Me

Has anyone else seen this movie?   DH and I saw it last night and it is so good.  I bawled like a little baby.  All of the dog loving ladies on this board really need to see it!

Re: Marley and Me

  • When I heard how sad it was, I said I couldn't go see it.  I figured he dies in the end...and "Where the Red Fern Grows" did me in for movies like that! I've never even watched Old Yeller!  I just can't take it...I must be a wuss.

Maybe I will read the book and then decide whether to watch it or not ;)

  • I haven't been to it. I'm too afraid after how sad I've heard it is! I've heard it is very, very good but incredibly sad and I hate movies with dogs and sad endings.

  • I read the book and saw the movie... I bawled with both. I have to say that the book is MUCH better than the movie. As a dog lover, it's probably one of my top favorite books now.

I would suggest reading the book before the movie. Then you at least know what to expect.

    Ditto

  • i haven't seen it yet but that's only because i want to read the book first. i know i'll cry so maybe i'll wait til it's on dvd since i have 3 different book series that i've started and would like to finish
  • I thought the promos looked good...didn't realize it had a sad ending. I was afraid, like so many movies, all the good clips were in the promos. If it's sad I probably will avoid it. I can't handle sad where animals are concerned.

I hate sad endings with dogs, too.  And I see too many sad endings at the vet school.  I may catch it on DVD.

  • Oh my gosh- I bawled like a baby too. ?I don't think there was a dry eye in that theater. ?I tried to hold it together but when they started to play the old videos... I completely lost it!!!

  • I wanted to see it so bad, but my sister's boyfriend bawled through the book and the movie, and he just isn't an emotional person.  So I'm not sure if I could see it.
  • I want to see it but someone told me I would cry so I think I am waiting for it to come out on DVD so I can cry at home! lol

  • I am right in the middle of the book right now.  So just as soon as I finish it...I am going to go see the movie!

I was sitting in the Dr's office this am...and I was reading the book while I was waiting **forever** for him to come into my exam room.  By the time he walked in...my eyes were all teared up.  All I could say was "It's just a really good book"...lol!  It is really a touching story....and I can't wait to finish it :)
