I guess I'll probably post this on D&R too, but so many of you ladies have such good ideas, I thought I would try here too. I'm looking for something to hang on a large section of empty wall in my living room. It's 10 feet high by about 15 feet long. I can't put any furniture there because the back of my sofa is only four feet or so from the wall and we need walking room (it's the entry area of the house).
I thought about doing a photo wall, but we were already planning to do one up the stairway and DH said he'd rather have it up the stairs. I could just look for some kind of large painting/artwork, but that seems kind of boring. I'm thinking I might just cover some canvasses in fabric, but I know there has to be something better out there. I just never find inspiration when I need it
Has anyone seen something that might work in a space like that?
Re: Looking for suggestions or inspiration pics
what about those wall tiles (ceiling tiles IRL) that everyone was all wild about over on D&R?
first thing that comes to my mind would be a quilt hanging or something. i like the idea of fabric on canvas, you could do four similar fabrics and hang them together or a couple inches apart.
oh oh, or how about doing a fabric that's kind of a picture, but split it up into 3 sections and dye each a separate color? i'm thinking of a pic of a willow or something i saw somewhere that starts in brown, goes orange, ends up green. i swear i saw it somewhere and it looked really cool. or i'm hallucinating.

Thanks for the ideas, Kat! I think wall tiles would be too small for the space. I would need too many of them. I actually do have a quilt hanging there now, but it's a Christmas quilt so it really needs to come down. The different color fabric picture sounds interesting, but I'd need to see a picture of it. If it actually is a hallucination, I'm going to need you to share some of whatever you've been taking
The fabric wrapped canvas is still a contender. I did get a couple of ideas I really like from D&R too:
The first one, she got different sizes of canvas and a stencil sticker from Etsy. She put the sticker on, painted over it and then took it off. I could probably do that without messing it up too bad. The second one would be even easier, but I really like the idea of trying to paint something.
I like both of those ideas pictured...you would need a large amount of the EW ceiling tiles to have an impact on that large of a wall. I have a couple of them but they don't take up that much room.
I like the idea of working with canvas...I was actually thinking this morning about getting some canvas and painting a fleur de lis design on it for in my house.
Myst33 on D&R did some canvases in her house so you might want to check her bio out. If I think of something else I will let you know!
