Spending 2 night in Chicago- hotel/neighborhood rec's?
Hello from Massachusetts!
We are spending just 2 nights in Chicago, a Fri&Sat at the end of Feb.
I?m traveling for work and DH is tagging along and we?re staying for some fun.
Does anyone have hotel recommendations/ neighborhood rec?s?
We want to do some touristy stuff fri night, all day sat and sun am.
I would like to stay in a Marriott and use my points but anything will do.
Do you have any restaurant suggestions for 2 nice (but not stuffy) dinners?
What would you suggest for Saturday? Money isn?t really a concern.
TIA

HI
do you want to stay downtown?
how about Hotel Sofitel or the W?
what kind of food do you like?
tons of restauraunts to choose from, go on www.yelp.com and you can plug in where you are staying then look for restaurants/bars near the area or look up reviews of different restaurants depending on type of food, cost, etc.... or go on metromix.com as well!
You should try chicago deep dish at least 1 of the days, maybe for lunch? Lou's is def the best deep dish!!!!!
hope that helps!

There are several Marriotts (Residence Inn, Courtyard, Springhill Suites, etc) in the downtown area. The most popular one is probably the Marriott on Michigan Avenue (aka Magnificent Mile). This is a good central location for shopping, museums, and restaurants. Staying anywhere in the Downtown or River North area would be fun.
As for restaurants, here are some recommendations of local ones that are in the downtown area that I really enjoy:
- Harry Caray's
- Naha
- Frontera Grill or Topolobampo (local celebrity chef)
- Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak, and Stone Crab
- BIN 36 (for wine, cheese, and dessert flights)
- Cru (for drinks)
As for things to do on a Saturday, the temperatures will probably still be pretty chilly, but if you're up for it you can walk around the downtown area to check out the architecture and landmarks (Picasso in Daley Plaza, Flamingo in Federal Plaza, Cloud Gate in Millenium Park, etc).
