Spa Review: Serenity Spa at Heritage Hills

Last weekend I ended up getting a hair cut, facial and 60-minute Swedish massage at Serenity Spa at Heritage Hills, in York.  I love the cut, and the treatments were nice.

The facility is huge, but it's more a salon-that-offers-spa-treatments, rather than a spa.  It doesn't have the nice big relaxation room/gym/locker room/pool/hot tub facilities that Hershey & Felicita have, rather just a couple of couches in a waiting room for spa services.  There is a one-seater bathroom off an area with a few lockers.

My facial was a face-mapping thing, and it was nice the attendant didn't do a hard sell at the end pushing products.  She asked once, I declined once, and that was it.  Turns out some products & armoatherapy that is normally part of the facial aren't good for pregnant women, so I didn't get to experience the whole deal.  But it was nice, nonetheless.

And the massage was very relaxing.  That is, after the masseuse made a big deal in the salon (during my hair cut) about the fact that I'm pregnant, and she didn't feel comfortable working on me.  In short, I told her how far along I am and that I have no complications, I assured her my doctor told me massage is fine, she called her manager for reassurance and eventually she gave me a swedish massage, rather than deep-tissue, because that's what she was comfortable with.

Overall a nice day, especially since I had a GC.  Would I travel the 40 minutes again and pay my own money?  Probably not.
