Can you give me the contact info for your jeweler? I need to resize my rings. Both have diamonds all the way around, so they will have to make it bigger from the inside. I know it's not an easy task, which is why I want someone good. Do you know if your guy does stuff like this?
Re: ***SDgirl22***
Ok...I gotta stick my nose in here I work in the diamond industry and have a little bit of knowledge when it comes to what a bench jeweler can and cannot do.
If the rings are eternity bands (diamonds all the way around) no decent bench jeweler is going to want to even attempt to resize them. They are very difficult to resize since it usually involves removing all of the stones and then creating a whole new band to get them to fit once it has been enlarged. The platinumsmith that I use will not resize any type of eternity band.
They might be able to cut the ring and insert a tiny shank but then you wont have diamonds all the way around and it could weaken the prongs which could lead to a stone popping out of the setting.
If they are channel set, you may still have the same issues and depending on the size of the diamonds, you may need to buy some melee to add to the ring if it is a drastic size increase.
Ack....as far as I know, eternity settings are not resizeable. You have to have them completey redone. We were going to buy an eternity band and our jeweler talked us out of it....Have you considered buying a new band? It may be cheaper.
PS...Porkchop is super cute!
I really don't think it would be cheaper to buy new bands and I love these. He spent close to 20k on both of the rings, and they were custom made. It's not dire that I have them resized now, but I will need to in the future. From doing some research and calling one of the places someone recommended, they said that sometimes they can resize from the inside. It looks like I have some room to work with, so maybe that's the way to go. I wish my jeweler talked me out of these before I chose them or at least explained the problem with resizing these rings. I guess they don't call them eternity for nothing.
And thanks for the Porkchop comment. He's the best puppy ever and would give you a kiss if he saw you.
