who is in DC for the inauguration?
I remember a while back there were a few people planning to come here for the inauguration. So, who ended up coming to DC?
I am here (I live here), and am still debating whether or not to brave the crowds and temperatures in the teens/twenties to be on the Mall for the swearing-in ceremony. I am torn between wanting to witness this piece of history firsthand and wanting to share the moment at home with Sylvia (she can't stand that long, especially in the cold). Hmm... what would the SSH nesties do?

Re: who is in DC for the inauguration?
I am here - but like you, I live here!
I actually have to work that day IN DC. That is what I get for working at a hospital - as the head of social work in the ER that day. I am actually really worried that we are going to be SLAMMED with traumas and mass casualties. Hopefully, I am wrong.
If I wasn't working, I would be sitting on my couch, glued to my tv. I am not one for huge crowds, limited food/bathroom facilities, and unknown commutes. But, I am a wuss!
Good luck whatever you decide!
We live here too. I went to the concert on the Mall today, and I wouldn't trade that memory for anything - a 400,000 person singalong of "This Land Is Your Land" led by Pete Seeger and Bruce Springsteen - just incredible.?
The weather was pretty nice today - not windy at all, and not the biting cold we've had the last few days. Everyone was in a great mood, patient, and well-behaved. I know there will be many, many more people out on Tuesday, but it made me feel very optimistic about the Inauguration logistics.?
I got tickets for the parade, so we're going right to the parade route on Tuesday morning and will watch the Inauguration later at home (they considered putting Jumbotrons along the parade route, but decided against it). I think we'll end up leaving the house around 3:45 in the morning, so that gives us time to walk the three miles to our parade seats if the Metro is too jammed.
A lot of people (including most of my friends and coworkers) have been scared off by the crowds and predictions, and that's understandable. But you just can't capture the feeling of jubilation and community sitting at home, so I gotta be out there :-)?
I am pretty sure the parade is after the Inauguration. I think it is swearing in at 12:00 and parade from 2:30-5. Check out Sunday's Post.
Good luck going down! Let us know how it was!

Oooohhhh...let us know.
I left home at 5am thinking traffic was going to be a nightmare since I had to get into the city - NOPE. I FLEW and was here by 5:30. Sigh. I heard that the Greenbelt Station was closed and full by 5am. Wow. That is a huge lot! Stay warm!
