OK, I noticed from the poll that many folks are interested in cooking... (at least, I'm assuming since Top Chef was several people's fave TV show...)
What if our GTG was a cooking class? I did a quick google search and found a class at Frasier's (on the far northside.) It's a ways off... but it will allow us to block out our calendars. What does everyone think?
Roasting, Braising & Stewing Thursday, February 26 $35
Chef Tony Hanslits, The Chef?s Academy 6:30 p.m.
Keep yourself warm through the winter with comfort foods. Chef Tony will teach you the proper techniques of slow roasting and its benefits, proper braising, and the big difference between stewing and braising. I especially like these methods as they allow you to do other things as the food cooks.
Re: What about a cooking class?
I'd love to go to a cooking class!
http://www.frasiersgourmet.com/cookingclasses/classes/ I honestly wouldn't go to a class like that on my own since I'm pretty comfortable with those techniques, but if a group of us want to go, I'll go for the socializing I'd be more interested in the NOLA, Spring or Spain classes.
I also found this option, which is downtown and might be more central if we have a diverse group coming:

I might have to schedule the Australian one and let you know how it goes
The only downside I see is the price tag (which is actually pretty standard based on my experience) and that the classes are only offered on Saturdays (I don't mind, but some might).
http://www.kisszcook.com/ is in Carmel.
This post reviews the difference in Frazier's vs. Kiss Z Cook: http://teachmeindy.blogspot.com/2009/01/review-class-at-kiss-z-cook.html
And if we need other class ideas on various topics, I completely forgot that one of my friends from h.s. does this blog! http://teachmeindy.blogspot.com/
Good idea!!
I just went to a cooking class with DH at Frasiers this past Monday and I'm going to another one next monday (was my xmas present). I enjoyed it but DH picked the weirdest classes...the food last week was oxtail soup, chili and two breads. I was disapointed that one of the breads wasnt rising fast enough so the cook just didnt bake it. Sort of bothered me since we paid for that and didnt get to see the finished product (not to mention taste it!)
Also I felt that the chef moved REALLY slowly with everything....class started at 6:30 but we didnt get to eat until after 9pm. I dont know - it was ok but I think I'd be more interested in going if it was food I was more excited about and a different chef than the one I had.
Sorry I'm rambling The ones you suggested all sound good. I think they mentioned they're having a brunch class soon which could be cool too.
