I'll go ahead and start since I have a semi-update.
I've been pretty worried that K won't be involved/interested as we move along with TTC. She has told me that I need to take the lead and just take care of things. This is due to the fact that she is 100% overwhelmed by and consumed with her Ph.D. dissertation. Well on Saturday we had a much needed conversation about baby-making.
She explained that she feels pressure when I walk down the baby aisle at Target or when I throw out possible baby names. I explained to her that these habits have absolutely nothing to do with her. I've walked down the baby aisle for 10+ years, and I've always scribbled down baby names. That's just me - not just a botb current obsession. I think she understand now.
And for her part she expressed that she really does want to be involved with every step of the process but doesn't have the emotional/mental capacity to do so until she graduates. This I was very happy to hear. In the end it looks like we're heading back to our original TTC start date (this summer) which is okay with me. I'd much rather wait a few more months and have her on board than start this process alone.
Wow - that was long. Okay, you're turn.
Re: PCP/TTC Wednesday
We had our intake appt. at the ob today and all is well. I really liked the nurse and look forward to my appt. with the ob. We have an ultrasound scheduled on the 6th which should be fun. I threw up for the first time this morning but it was not too bad and it passed pretty quickly. Yeah for feeling pregnant boo for feeling sick.
For those is the donor picking process. We saved quite a few long donor profiles of possible donors when we had a monthly pass at xytex. If you are interested in a particular donor there email me and I'll send you the profile if I have it.
we have an ultrasound on friday to see where things are. depending on how things look i expect she'll trigger that night for a sunday morning try.
we have a consult scheduled with the re for the day after what we expect will be testing day to talk about our options if this cycle doesn't work. everything looks great on our end, so it's probably just a matter of timing and i'm not sure what he'll suggest other than different hormones, shots, etc. keep your fingers crossed that we can cancel this appointment.
I'm jealous of your early appointment and ultrasound. My first appointment isn't even until the first week of Feb, and our first ultrasound won't be until I'm approx. 12 weeks... so the beginning of March.
Oh, and we're due only a day apart!

The biggest thing I have to report is that I made an appointment with my cardiologist for a sit down. I had a heart problem called SVT, but had a surgery to fix it about 5 years ago. I've been fine since and haven't seen her, but she wanted me to come in when I got pregnant, as sometimes pregnancy hormones can cause a reoccurance. So I'll be heading there in February to make sure things are still good.
Otherwise, not much new to report right now. For the past few days I've been having periods of nausea throughout the day... and certain smells make it worse. I passed a food cart this morning walking into work and the smell of eggs made my stomach heave.
Despite that... I'm still amazingly hungry all the time! I eat about every two hours or I end up feeling like I have a hole in my stomach. I'm also peeing almost every hour, and I'm pretty damn exhausted most mornings. But, I'm enjoying every second of it and feel so damn lucky.
I'm 6w, 3d.

Hey very exciting that we are due a day apart very cool! I was very happy about the ultra sound. The nurse was so cool and totally did us a favor to get us in early. I guess this practice likes to see you on the earlier time for intake which is really cool. I didn't see a dr and won't until 2/9. So we are on the same schedule for the Dr part. maybe they can get you an early u/s too!
Nothing much for us. We will start again in Feb. and I'm just hoping and praying everything goes well, this time I cannot take all the wonderful preg. women on this board.
I hate the person living in our rental home..Ok, you don't want me to go there...
ps.. I love hearing about whats going on so early in your preg. I cannot wait to hear more.
How fun that your wee ones will be so close in age!
Things are going well here. Maggie is a sweetheart. She is asleep next to me right now. So far she is a pretty chill kid. As long as she can have the boob on demand, she is happy. Maggie and W have thrush (a yeast infection), which has been difficult to treat and does not seem to want to go away. Maggie does not like the medication (which we paint in her mouth) and makes the cutest pathetic faces when we give it to her.
As for me, I am trying to stimulate breast milk. I have been taking herbs and am pumping 8 times a day for 15 minutes. Once the thrush is gone, I will let Maggie try to help with the stimulation. I am really curious to see what happens.
Big hugs to y'all,
Joanna
We had a consult with our new RE last week. We will, eventually, start trying with me.
For now we are moving full speed toward fostering. Our next class is tonight, paperwork is done, we bought our travel system and will get our crib this weekend (I hope). Next up is a carseat, child-proofing the house for our home visit and finding baby bedding that doesn't make me gag.

That sucks.
I'm sorry your social worker's being a bum.
When would the later class be?

We are planning on doing are first insem this month. We purchased the clear blue digital OPK tests, and started testing today, and are waiting for the opk+. We had been tracking the last 2 months and typically got an opk+ on the 14th or 15th cycle day, so we are expecting/hoping for a similar timeframe this month which would put us at next Tuesday/Wed for our first insem.
We wanted to know when you guys had a opk+, were you testing in the morning? We were told that our insem would be the day following the opk+ and were wondering if you had the insem the morning after the +, or the afternoon after the + ?
March? i think?

The way it worked for us and since you are going to the same place I would assume that it will work in a similar way. If we got a +opk in the am of a weekday I would call to make an appointment for the following day. THe one month that happened (cycle #2) the midwife who was doing iui was not in until the afternoon so we went in around 3 (I think). For our other two iuis I happened to get a positive on either a friday morning or a holiday. In that case we called the next morning and paged the oncall midwife for iui and she called us back to set up the appointment which she was very flexible with us when we needed to go in earlier. We actually liked going in on the weekend since the office was empty and it was just in us and the midwife. If you want to talk further send me an email at genierster at gmail dot com. The cycle that worked for us I got the +opk on christmas morning and we went in at noon on the 26th for the iui.
I love hearing everyone's updates.
Not much news here. I am on CD 59 with no period in sight. Ugh.
Two*-- I'm glad you and K got to talk. Sounds like you made the right decision for you both. S was originally like K in some respects, expecting me to take care of things and just come back to her with a plan and a donor picked out. We talked, and clarified expectations on both sides about level of involvement and decision-making, and that helped a lot. (S is ABD, but she works full time so the progress on her dissertation is s-l-o-w, which I know stresses her out. We finally decided to not wait for the PhD to ttc.)
IUI #3 gave us the best 2nd anniv. gift ever: 2 babies! (born 03/09/10)
Peanut and Little Man are getting so big! 2 years old already!
finally blogging again at This Will Be: An Adventure
I'm a day behind, but since my laptop died I can't get on here much. We had another ultrasound today since they didn't get all the shots they needed at the 20 week one. Everything looks good and I am measuring one day ahead.
We have made a lot of purchases in the last couple of weeks too. We now have crib bedding, some furniture and some clothes. only 4 months til we have to be ready.
We are also hoping the baby doesn't come early since we optimistically got tickets to a B-52's concert one week before my due date!
