SeekingSitters.com - anyone use them?

Hi all,

Has anyone used this babysitting service, SeekingSitters.com?  My husband & I don't have family in the area and would like to have a date night at some point (we just moved down here last fall from San Francisco).  The service looks reasonable and has some good reviews, but hoped that maybe one of you has some direct experience.

Thanks!

Re: SeekingSitters.com - anyone use them?

  • Hello, and welcome :)  I am a new mommy (to a fosterbaby).  I personally would be waaaay too nervous to try a service.  I know lots of other people do it, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.  Do you attend church in the area?  Maybe you could find sitters that way.  Or do you plan to go to nestie get togethers?  I know there's lots of great mommys on this board.  If it's just an occasional night maybe you can connect with someone you met here.  Just a thought.

By the way, I live right by you neighbor!  How you liking Torrance?

  • Oh one more suggestion...is your child in daycare?  I know a lot of the workers at my daycare like to descreetly through it out there that they would babysit on the side for some extra cash.
  • Thanks for the welcome!  Yes, I'm a little nervous to try a sitting service, but on the flip side, they can be more reliable than friends or relatives, they're all CPR certified and have background checks.  Ugh, I'm torn.  I have some friends in other areas that have used them with great success, but I'm still nervous.  Our day care sort of frowns on people using teachers as baby sitters outside the school, so not sure we have an option there.

I've sort of been lurking on the board over the past few months.  I'm a regular on the Nor Cal baby & newlywed board still - it's super active.  It doesn't look like the LA Baby board is very active and that most of the Mom's are on this one, right?

We're adjusting to living down here - we were living in San Francisco proper, so it's an adjustment from city to suburb.  It's been good, though, so I can't complain!

  • i havent heard of them at all and why not give them a try? how are u doing today? i usually ask friends and family.
