Hi ladies,
Our certifier from DHS just called me because they are in desperate need of car seats to safely transport children and have no budget to purchase any more. They often times have to give theirs out to foster parents in emergency situations in order to place children. The great thing is that they are able to accept used car seats so long as they have never been in an accident (honor system) and are not expired. I have also done some digging in order to find out how certain organizations are able to offer car seats for a donation and where they purchase them from. Though my contact won't give up her contact info for me to place a direct order, she told me that she would place an order for me and they prefer orders to be at least $500. She told me the cost of seats vary but the organizations they provide seats to generally suggest a donation of $25 and one lady once told me that is how much they pay for the seats so I'm going to guess that $500 would buy around 20 car seats. This said, I'm trying to raise $500 to place an order to donate to DHS so that they can not only have enough seats to transport children, but so they can also provide foster parents with appropriate and safe car seats when needed. I'll donate $100 and please let me know if you would like to make a donation either $$ or a car seat. Just shoot me an email and I'll send you my mailing address. My email is my name, Alyssa LoGreco at yahoo dot com.
Also, I will inquire if it is possible to get receipts from DHS so that these donations can be written off but can't promise this.

We're in the same place as Esther with our car seats so we'll be holding on to our own for a future baby #2. However if you are moved to donate, that would be wonderful! I'm up to about $225 thus far.
