barfing at school

So I made it through the morning fine but at about 11 I started throwing up.  I had a study hall the first time so I could slip out and then I had a free the second time so I have not had to run out of my class and leave the kids yet but this is no fun and the school bathroom is sooooooo gross!  I know it is a good thing but I don't mind barfing at home but it stinks to do that and then have to walk out and look all happy with the kids!  Any helpful hints from the mommies and mommies  to be????

Re: barfing at school

  • oh no :( i've heard sour patch kids help a lot?

  • - Small meals, frequently throughout the day... so your stomach is never stuffed, but never empty. I know that's harder as a teacher, but even if you just have some crackers to pop in your mouth between talking, its something.

    - Ginger or Mint tea

    - Sea Bands. http://www.sea-band.com/seaband.htm

    - 50 mg of B6 a day.

I've been lucky so far with only brief patches of nausea that haven't progressed to barfing. I think the B6 is a big reason. When I do have the nausea, I do the tea and small meals, which have been a big help.

My coworker swore by the sea bands when she was pregnant and nothing else seemed to help her morning sickness.

  • Ugh! I've heard about the remedies Meegs recommended as well.  And isn't there some kind of lollipop that's supposed to help?  Called Pregnancy Pops or something of that nature??

Hopefully the nausea will be a short phase!

  • I feel for you. It sucks. I was sick till week 18. L bought me the Preggie Pops and they didn't do anything super for me.  They are basically a lollipop - they might have something in them - but regular hard candies worked just as well.

Meegs has good ideas. I did find that if I snacked all day I was better. Ginger ale was good (although I am not a big fan), animal crackers were good since they were plain and filling. Nothing really cured it - just made the feeling subside for a bit.  Oddly, my trigger was going outside at night in the cold air. Got me every time - and seeing how my first and second trimesters were in the winter - sigh.

Feel better - but at least it is for a good cause!!!

  • I had constant low-level-but-all-the-time nausea until around week 16 or so.?I drank a LOT of ginger ale in the first half of my pregnancy!?You might try carrying around a ziploc of oyster crackers. They're like saltines, but in bite size form. Easy for sneaking a few into your mouth here and there.

Good luck. It really does pass eventually!
