Northwest Fertility Center

Hi ladies, DH and I are finally settled here in Portland and ready to dive back into our infertility battle.  I have done a little research about fertility clinics in the area and keep going back to Dr. Stoelk at NW Fertility Center, something about them gives me the warm fuzzies.   Naturally I wish that no one here would have experience or feedback to give me but if you can give me some feedback about them it would be greatly appreciated, also if you went someplace else I would love to hear about your experience there as well.

 Thanks!

Re: Northwest Fertility Center

  • A woman I met in a multiples class absolutely loved Dr. Stoelk.  The woman's mother was with her in class and couldn't stop talking about what a wonderful man he was.

My friend did IVF with Dr. Bankowski at Oregon Reproductive and is really excited to go back to him later this year to have her second baby.  She cried when she left him to switch to an OB.

  • I also used Dr Bankowski, and highly reccomend him and his office staff. I have heard good things about Dr Hesla also.

  • Thank you both so much for your help.  Ok second question, probably more directed to Jen.  How important is location?  NW is walking distance from my office and an easy shot down I5 from my house, Oregon Reproductive is a little more off the beaten path for me.
  • Honestly, I don't think location matters much.  Sure, it would be easier to have the convenience of being able to get over there quickly, but realistically, I don't know how much time it would really save.

Depending on how in-depth you are getting with your treatment, you might have to go to the office 3-4 or more times every single month, and they are typically open M-F 8-5.  So if you are already missing all of that time from work, another half hour per day doesn't seem like much.

I would probably schedule a sit down with a few different RE's and take your DH with you, and see who you like, feel comfortable with, the comparative costs, etc.

Let me know if you want to talk/vent/***/cry, I've been there and I know exactly how much IF sucks.
