Has anyones district switched health insureance?  Apparently NJ has a teaches health insurance that DH's disctrict wants them to switch to.  I was wondering if anyone had experience with the new one, I think it is NJ Direct 10.

Re: Teachers come in

  • We have it and so far I love it.  I haven't had an issue and KJ has had surgery and they covered everything for my pg so it's been easy.  What district if you don't mind me asking?  I work in Buena and we have yet to settle so I was just wondering, if this is going to be part of a new contract.

  • He is in Voorhees, the union is meeting next week to vote on it.  I am just worried the copays are going to be really high or the deductable or he will have to pay for me to be on the insurance.  I just switched to his insurance and if it goes though I will be switching again. oh well.

  • Our union leaders advised us not to go for that, but I don't actually know of any specific negative stories.
  • I teach in North Jersey and we switched over to NJ Direct 10 last year. I haven't had a problem so far. $10 copay for the doctor, and $25 for the emergency room. Both of which I've visited recently and haven't had any problems. I just got a statement about my ER visit and everything looked fine.

  • He pays nothing for family coverage, some schools are starting to charge new teachers if they have a spouse or children, but neither of our districts due.  Our doctor's office co-pays went up $5 to $10 buuuuuuuuuuut the Rx co-pays went down $2 and $5 so it is actually better for us.
