Post Office Update

I just found out they sent back the party items I ordered for my daughter's birthday party as "undeliverable, bad address" and her party is in a few days. I am so MAD!!! I can't believe this. This is exactly the kind of thing that gives Alabama a bad name. How smart do you have to be to sort mail? This is my name, this is my address, give me my f&^%ng mail. I don't even care that you still keep giving me mail for the 5 people who lived here before me plus mail for my FIL who lives in another state. I actually care about paying my bills on time and receiving important items like tax documents, DD's birthday supplies, Christmas cards. The Postmaster is still MIA and apparently the man I have been working with for the last few months is the only other person with any kind of "authority". As of yesterday he advised that "I have absolutely no clue what the problem is. I will talk to your carrier again and will get back with you."  We're just going to have to move out of Alabama I guess because this is just ridiculous. Let me know if you are interested in buying our house!

Re: Post Office Update

  • This would severely tick me off!!!  I hope you get it all sorted out.  I am sure you will find some more decorations and her party will be fabulous!!!
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I don't think it's an Alabama thing.  I moved here from Charlotte and we had the same problem there : )

    It is very aggravating.

  • Honey, let me know in 10 months if you are still having the same problem. I just don't see how returning my water/power bills for 10 months could not be a local issue. ALL of my contacts have my correct name and address. My husband gets mail, my daughter gets mail, my FIL who doesn't even live her gets mail, and I get SOME of my mail, mostly the advertising sort which I am sure is probably only because someone is lazy and not even looking at who it goes to. ** My carrier even told me last year that he is too lazy to walk up our driveway to deliver packages and that they would be held at the post office for me to pick up. I don't mind that at all, as long as I can go pick them up. It's kind of hard when they return them to sender for "unknown" reasons. *** He also told me that he was out for a whole month because someone shot him with a bb gun. I can't imagine why anyone would do such a thing!
  • Oh my gosh!  I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time just getting mail!  Is there any other place you can get decorations for the party?

Sounds like your mail carrier is a piece of work.  Our situation actually went on for years in Charlotte.  We complained a few times and our neighbors did as well, but it never seemed to make a difference.  Praxis scores, a credit card bill, and a birthday card for my daughter were just a few of the things that never made it to us even though I know they were mailed.  Once we got a wedding invitation a week after the wedding because it was deilvered to our neighbor and she forgot about it for a while.  Believe me, I understand your frustration.

Maybe it is a local problem, maybe it isn't...I don't really know.  I  just wanted to share that I had experienced a similar situation somewhere other than in Alabama.

I really hope this gets worked out soon.

  • that would really tick me off!  Let me ask my neighbor who's husband works for the post office (but he lives in Texas still) and find out what he suggests.
  • I don't know that I would say it's an "Alabama thing", but more so a particular mail carrier problem. I would keep reporting him...sounds like this post office needs to get all of their ducks in a row and hire people that will actually work and do what they are supposed to do for their job.
