Am I being petty????

Very rarely, when I go grocery shopping, do I buy something just for me.. This past week I've really been craving Utz's sourdough pretzels w/some ice cream...WEll I opened the bag the other day and had 2 servings of pretzels with the ice cream and when I went ot get some tonite, the bag was almost empty!!!!!...

I mean everytime I go shopping I buy a snack for DH and I rarely eat it.. He's a peanut junkie and I have tons of canisters of peanuts in my pantry and I don;t touch them because they are for him.... Why does he feel he has the right to eat my pretzels... He didnt eat just a handful, he ate almost half the bag!!!!..

Would you be ticked?

Re: Am I being petty????

  • No, you are not being petty, and Yes, I would be ticked as well. This happens to me all the time. I rarely buy ice cream because if I do I eat the whole thing, anyway I buy some for myself at the store and I only had one bowel, well I go in a few days later and it's all gone, my step son ate it all. I was so pissed.

  • That's not petty,  I've been there too.  My husband drinks everything in sight,  I swear he is part camel.  I'll open the fridge,  and there is no liquid to be found.  I have to make sure I buy things he hates,  just so there is something left!

Don't feel bad about leaning into him a bit,  even if you have to put a 'don't touch' post-it on it.  If something I was craving was gone,  I'm be super annoyed too.

  • Nah, its fine. I would just hide them next time
  • I agree, hide it.  DH eats every snack item in sight, especially on the weekend!  Luckily sweet stuff isnt really his thing, so if i get ice cream he wont eat it. But he eats whole bags of chips and pretzels at a time, ya know the FAMILY SIZE bags!!.  It is annoying more so because he goes through the food so fast and I have to go food shopping again!  Spare yourself the stress, find a hiding spot and put your goodies there lol
  • Nope. DH does it to me with alcohol all the time. I stock our liquor cabinets with cordials that I use for dessert/pastry ingredients and it's always gone when I go to use it.  Any time I'm asked to make tiramisu  for any family function, I automatically just go to the liquor store for brandy, kahlua and rum because I just assume there won't be any. DH usually has a martini every night, but if we are out of vodka, will drink anything.

The worst time was this Christmas. I hadn't had a drink since last year because I'd been ttc, pg or nursing from last Dec through this past  November. I found a forgotten bottle of Persecco, which I love, and was absolutey giddy looking forward to it.  I chilled it, but never got to it that night. DH was home on vacation days, had a few friends over the next day. That evening, I went to have a glass...alll  gone,  every drop.  I ripped into him.  DH went to the liquor store the next day for more vodka for HIS nightly martini, but no Persecco for me. RUDE!!!!!

  • I'd be upset. I bought cookies the one day that I swore he never ate before so I knew they were "safe" so I let them sit in the pantry for a week. Well, I went to get them and couldn't find them. Turns out he ate the whole bag 2 days after I got them. I was really upset. I think the problem is their idea of a serving is half the bag!!!
  • I'd be annoyed, too.  Just be glad you got a serving, though!  Sometimes, I don't even get that luxury when snacks are around!
  • Thanks everyone...just glad to see that I'm not the only one with a snack greedy hubby!!
  • I totally get upset when my H does this.  Even when I tell him I bought this for me, dont eat any of it.  The next day it is gone and when I question him he says I thought you were done with it.  Just because I dont eat the whole thing in one sitting doenst mean I am not going to have some later.  I like to savor my special treats over the week.
