Valentine's Day plans

I know it may be a little early but I was just wondering what everyone has planned for the special day. We have a yearly tradition of having dinner at Ruth's Chris steakhouse on Valentine's Day we love it there and the steaks are beyond delicious. Since this will be our first V-day being married I want to do something special for Jay (sending flowers to her job is out due to her allergies) any ideas would be greatly appreciated. So what does everyone have planned?

Re: Valentine's Day plans

  • Me too- can't think of anything!
  • jeez, i haven't even thought about valentine's day, other than to tell c it's okay if she works overtime that night. i should probably get on that, huh?

oooh, but she did mention something about the melting pot the other day. yum! i hope that's her plan...

  • I decorated the house for Valentine's Day, but that's as far as I got. I guess I had better get my tush in gear!
  • Since flowers are out question...how about a gift certificate to get a massage or even like a day at the spa being pampered?

We haven't made plans yet. My b-day is coming up in a few days so this weekend we are taking 4 days to just head out driving, through small towns and we have no clear plans of exactly where we will end up. We have made plans to ONLY eat at "mom&pop" type places unless under duress (and no other options!) and try some local flavor along our way. We are very excited to step away from structure and work and just go see what's out there.

Anyway, good luck with your v-day plans!

  • I actually thought about V-Day really early this year for some reason. I made reservations to a really nice seafood restaurant in Boston and I have been putting away money everyweek so we can have a really nice night out without worrying about cost.
  • We actually have a surprise b-day party for a friend that night so we will be celebrating with friends which is ok since going out on valentine's day is always such a pain and totally overpriced so we prob will go out either the friday before or the sunday after.  Can you send candy or balloons?

  • We have plans to not have any plans. We both agree that going out on Valentine's Day is torture, and the closest weekend isn't that much better around here. That said, we'll probably end up doing something anyway.

I have a card for S that I bought last year on sale after the actual day, so I'm planning to give that to her. Maybe I'll cook dinner or something...
